Good Buy I was pleased with my first set of cards despite the number of copies and distribution. I like the new artwork as well as the surprise of seeing new abilities, sickeningly good spells, and style change. I received 1054 cards; 213 white, 230 blue, 231 black, 186 red, 173 green, 14 artifacts, 3 colorless, 2 nonbasic land, 1 foreign language, and 1 split card. On average, there were 2 uncommons per color; no rares. I was able to add 290 distinguishably different cards to my collection. Large amounts of copies happen quite often as I can tell from my own cards, and having some copies isn't all the bad for the sake of deck building. In comparison, my white cards are 246 in number with 132 distinguishably different cards from over 26 editions. I have nearly 2000 cards dating as far back as 1993. To be able to add 213 white cards with 54 uniques is a decent deal in my book. I would purchase this product again, but with the 50 rare card set.
Great Deal This product was a great deal. I got mostly cards from the sets after the design change, so they weren't my FAVORITE cards, but it was nice to have like, a huge assortment of cards that I hadn't even seen before. Yes, the assortment was nice. I did get duplicates, and 4 spanish cards along with a Korean and Japanese card, but other than that I got all english, playable, and in better-than-expected condition. I would definitely buy this product again if I was guaranteed that I would not get a ton of duplicates.
Not quite what I expected... The product has this listed as it's features:
* 1000+ assorted Magic the Gathering Cards from All sets * the perfect Collection Builder for new and old collectors * A ton of Cards Cheap * Great assortment
I certainly received 1000+ Magic the Gathering Cards from a multitude of different sets. Because of point 4, I would not agree that this box is the perfect collection builder. It is indeed, a ton of cards, cheap. The assortment was, to put it lightly: Abysmal.
This is a list of every card I received, and in what quantity: TOTAL: 1099 Cards - [0 Rare, 140 Uncommon, 535 Common, 424 Excessive Copies(All Common, except 35 Uncommon)]
WHITE BORDERED (I prefer Black Bordered, so these are separate) Green - Common: 10, Uncommon: 1 Black - Common: 3, Uncommon: 1 Red - Common: 1, Uncommon: 1 White - Common: 13 Blue - Excess: 13, Common 39 Land - 8
Some of the cards were nice, but in all I received 55-60 unique cards... from ALL sets. That's a pretty horrible variety.
There was not a single rare card, which was not mentioned in the listing, although I should have guessed (after all, they never said there 'were' any either).
Is it worth $30.00? Maybe... I added about 240 cards out of the 1000+ to my collection... so $0.12 a card.
At least, I figure if I buy this product again, it'll be a different 55-60 cards in groups of 5-40 (Or so one would hope). I'm thinking the 50 Rares for 15 bucks is a far better deal (Unless you get 2-5 unique cards in groups of 10-25, heh).
Russian Cards The description is true. It is a good way to fill/start a set, but I am disappointed that I got Russian cards. Like buying a box of booster pack I did end up with a lot of the same cards, which can be good and bad. Russian cards I got had duplicate English cards, so I know what the cards are, but I am not really to interested in collecting Russian cards.
I give 3 stars because I am filling up a set and I am interested in look at all the different cards, but I am disappointed with the amount of the same cards I got. I would have given 4 stars for the amount to dollar value is good, but the Russian and amount of duplicates to me loses a star.
