very good I'd been looking for this film for a long while for my wife. We are both very pleased.
The Legend Lives I hadn't seen this film is over ten years and in that time I forgot what a truly amazing masterpiece `The Legend of Billie Jean' is, was, and always will be.
This is a classic guilty pleasure for every 80s fan. I guess there's something about a beautiful girl neglected and abused by the social classes but who doesn't allow her misfortunes to corrupt her heroic spirit to be an honest person. "Fair's fair."
For those of you who've forgotten this film as I had, there is no embarrassment in rekindling with this 80s classic.
For those of you who have no idea about Billie Jean or her legend. Here's the plot:
Helen and Christian Slater star as teenagers in a Corpus Christi Texas trailer park. As the poor of the poor they are looked down upon and bullied by the community. This is demonstrated by the theft of Christian's motor bike by a gang of bullies and the refusal of the police to help.
When Billie Jean (Helen) confronts the bully's father his response is to try and rape her. As Christian tries to help he ends up accidentally shooting him in the arm. Now accused of armed robbery and attempted murder the Slaters runaway with two other friends including Yeardley Smith (Lisa Simpson).
As the man hunt intensifies across the state the legend of Billie Jean grows to epic proportions in the media. More and more teens begin to idolize Billie Jean philosophy of, "Fair's fair." Girls begin to copy her shorn haircut. Billie Jean becomes a Joan of Arch for the young.
"Where is she?" "Everywhere." is the unforgettable line from the commercials 25 years ago.
Be aware of what you are buying I was unaware this is movie has never been released on DVD. I bought what I thought was a new DVD of it. I was shocked to find it was a bad DVD dub of a VSH copy. I have a feeling the just added seller "jonnys-deals" was formally seller "saso-fresh" who sold me the bad copy. Saso-fresh has a lot of negative feedback regarding selling dubbed copies as new. Be aware of what you are buying.
