My Opinion 2 years ago after much thought and research decided to purchase the Olympus WAS-321M DVR. I liked it so much that I bought the newest model even though the first one still works perfectly. I was surprised to fin that it has been updated in many small and useable ways making for a notably improved machine even though at first glance they look almost identical. If you read "reviews" on this item, you will hear some complaints: in general, I have NO complaints about this item, EXCEPT - and it is one that I have never seen mentioned: I really wish it had a MANUAL RECORDING LEVEL CONTROL. WMA/Mp3 Music sounds as good as the source material. I bought rechargeable AAA batteries for this thing from www.all-battery.com which have worked great. Perfect little voice recorder The quality of the recording is amazing. I bought it for my classes and for meetings ...no matter where I sit, the recordings are very clear. Very asy to use. I did not purchase it for music so I have not been using it for that. This is definitely one of my better buys online.
Good for what it is intended For notes, lectures and other recording this can't be beat. The built in speaker is low quality but still can be heard. I don't use this as a music player so I can't comment on it's capability. I wish there was a way to edit individual recordings such as removing silence or unwanted parts but there is not. You can only delete the entire file.
Olympus WAS 331M Digital Recorder Pretty nice piece of equipment - recorded a concert and it turned out really well - the only drawback I can see is that when turning it on/off, your hand naturally grasps the recorder - in a way where your fingers press the buttons on the other side. But...it's so small you have to put them somewhere and after a bit of self training its not that bad. I would and have recommended this recorder to friends.
Oh yeah, the Amazon price is WAY cheaper than Best Buy and other retail outlets.
Great product I bought this to replace my cheesy MP3 player, old voice recorder, and USB thumb drive and couldn't be more pleased with it. I use it to record notes and trip reports, as a general purpose USB drive to transfer files (2 GB memory!), and to record high quality stereo from audio sources. I like the fact that it's a direct USB connection, so you can transfer files directly from Windows Explorer. The voice recordings are WMA files that Windows programs can use.
