Amazon.com: A distant and animated sequel to the 1986 Highlander, which starred Christopher Lambert as an immortal Scottish swordsman, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance concerns the tale of Colin MacLeod, a 2nd century, Celtic warrior who becomes immortal following his defeat at the hands of Roman tyrant Marcus Octavius. Colin spends the next couple of millenia chasing after Marcus--also immortal--as the latter reinvents himself time and again as a ruler of kingdoms in every corner of the globe. The longtime duel extends into Earth's dystopian future about 200 years from now, where Colin--now a wandering mercenary--finds Marcus once again making lives miserable as head of a private government wielding a deadly virus. Drawing Colin into the fight is the lovely Dahlia, hauntingly reminiscent of every woman the hero has loved over hundreds of years. Dynamic, visually compelling, and boldly imaginative, Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is full of surprises and more than just another story of an embittered loner meandering through a futuristic wasteland. Directed by the prolific Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Neo-Tokyo). --Tom Keogh

Solid addition to the franchise Few franchises yo-yo so much between episodes and media type than Highlander. The recent made for tv movies are awful and the first cartoon was pathetic. This, however, was a nice addition that was better than I expected. Past and not-so-distant future are woven together for an interesting story. The story is fairly predictible, but fun to watch all the same. The animation is above average and not gorey unnecessarily. A solid addition to a hot-and-cold franchise.
Better than expected I'm normally iffy on cartoons made off of movies, especially movies like Highlander. But this movie managed to pull a pretty good story in the amount of time they gave it. There's a reason its unrated, its pretty violent, but that's something you'd expect from a Highlander movie. Final Conclusion: Without giving too much of the movie away I can say that its well worth the money as far as purchase.
Good Take On The Highlander Legend! On this take of the Highlander legend, we find a Scotsman named Colin who was born in the 2nd Century when his clan was killed by an immortal named Marcus Octavius who was a Roman emperor at the time. He was also killed by this same immortal but returned as one himself.
Years later, he was adopted by the clan Macleod and was killed in battle but came back again. Like Connor and Duncan, he was rejected by the clan as he continued to search for Octavius.
In the modern era, he finally finds him but now has to make a choice between love & honor Vs. pure vengence as the people in the city are dying but his lust for revenge for his clan has not abated.
While not a great film, it is certainly better than the recent trash known as The Source! The animation for it is nothing groundbreaking but good! The Highlander story is tailor-made for anime and we can only hope there are more features.
Not the original Highlander A good story and good animation. It's a new version of the old Highlander movie. Time and setting are considerably different and that makes it less a remake than a re-imagining. A lot of people might be turned off at the idea, but the story was really quite good. Definitely worth buying if you are a fan of Highlander or of animated movies.
Just alright for me Not as good as Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, but ok. Doesn't really seem to add anything to the Highlander saga. Truthfully, this movie is a bit cliche, predictable and ultimately forgettable. It's an enjoyable one time viewer, but better to rent than own.
