goes are back If you are starting to collect goes again make sure you get the cobra 5 pack because so far they havent released the baroness yet in single packs, they do later in wave 8 or 9, but she is v2, and dosent look good. It is fun to try to collect them all, and running around to differnt wallmarts, targets , etc, makes you feel like a kid again, only difference you can afford it now that your grown up. Oh for any new colecters starting, the goes Flint, FireFly, and Zartan are the hardest to get and expensive, but pretty cheap on amazon.
You can't beat the Originals I consider myself a G.I. Joe collector. I still have all of my Joes and vehicles from the 80's, and I collect the videos, comic books, and even the cheap G.I. Joe knock offs from India (the cheap knock-offs from India are quite close to the quality of the "new" joes). The fact that Hasbro is re-releasing the original joes with the original cover art is quite pleasing (I'm sure that Hasbro is going for the nostolgic father market who are trying to find an excuse to buy joes again). What is NOT pleasing is the absolute lack of Quality control: I noticed that the paint was inconsistant and sloppy, the plastic cheap, and the figures far too fragile. I am also not a fan of the updated look to the figurines...some are decent and some are plain ridiculous and out of porportion. Here is is an idea for Hasbro...use the same cover art, the same original characters, with the same molds and plastic.
No input on "Play-ability" - memorabilia item No input on "Play-ability" - memorabilia item only. Packaging suggests that the main intent of item was for display/presentation purposes; pretty cool regardless. Good keepsake for kids "from the '80's."
Great Nostalgia Factor These are nicer than the originals. They seem to be releasing the best characters. And they are coming exactly when i can give them to my son. I am not sure why hasbro ever abandoned this line. This was the best G I Joe series ever. It made G I Goe worth playing with and even enabled me to make many custom figures and cross play with Star Wars, although I am sure that is sacrilege for some more restrictive, less creative play hounds. I hope this series continues on and on.
A good start, but they need to fix a few things These could have been a far better tribute to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Real American Hero line. The plastic is not as good as what they used back in the 80's, the articulation is slightly improved in some areas, but it's made worse in more areas.
The figures do not sit well as they have only a twist joint at the waist and do not bend. The top of the thigh is restricted by the waist/lower torso piece as well so the legs will not bend to a 90 degree angle.
The sculpting is good and the weapon detail is really nice. These are much better display figures than play figures.
Hopefully they'll improve the next waves or they'll lose a collector or three...
