Amazon.com: March of the Penguins instantly qualifies as a wildlife classic, taking its place among other extraordinary films like Microcosmos and Winged Migration. French filmmaker Luc Jacquet and his devoted crew endured a full year of extreme conditions in Antarctica to capture the life cycle of Emperor penguins on film, and their diligence is evident in every striking frame of this 80-minute documentary. Narrated in soothing tones by Morgan Freeman, the film focuses on a colony of hundreds of Emperors as they return, in a single-file march of 70 miles or more, to their frozen breeding ground, far inland from the oceans where they thrive. At times dramatic, suspenseful, mischievous and just plain funny, the film conveys the intensity of the penguins' breeding cycle, and their treacherous task of protecting eggs and hatchlings in temperatures as low as 128 degrees below zero. There is some brief mating-ritual violence and sad moments of loss, but March of the Penguins remains family-friendly throughout, and kids especially will enjoy the Antarctic blue-ice vistas and the playful, waddling appeal of the penguins, who can be slapstick clumsy or magnificently graceful, depending on the circumstances. A marvel of wildlife cinematography, this unique film offers a front-row seat to these amazing creatures, balancing just enough scientific information with the entertaining visuals. --Jeff Shannon

Excellent movie, terrific graphics on HD This is one awesome movie. It follows the March of the Penguins to the breeding grounds. It was amazing what the penguins go through. I laughed and cried and cried some more. Great for any child or adult too. The graphics on HD were great too.
Penguins, Ho! Very good documentary. Those pengy's are so cute! Morgan Freeman was the perfect choice for the narration voice-over. Overall very good. A tad slow but hey it's a documentary. About penguins. It looks very cold there! So, in all honesty though, save the money and buy the regular DVD copy. I can't imagine the upscaled DVD would look much different than this. There is a general softness to most of the visuals, and grain-a-plenty, so don't expect to be dazzled. That said, the camera work is pretty amazing and they get some incredible shots! Enjoy.
March of thr Penguins HD DVD One of my favorite movies. I love to watch it over and over again. I would recommend this to all family memebers from child to adult.
beautyful pictures and a loveley story It was wonderful to see this film again in this high quality in my own home theater. Its fascinating to see this penguins on a big screen. This film is definitely one of the HD DVDs that have to be in every good collection. The look is partially a little grainy, because the film is shot in 16mm. But i like this analog film look. Its a pity, that the original version is not alternative on the disc with subtitles. The voiceover of morgan freeman is good, no doubt. But in the original version (in the german synchronisation to) the penguins tells the story by themselfs like actors. This has definitive more flair. So good 4 stars.
March of Number 1 film. This is a fantastic film, which really shows the life of a penguin. It is quite sad in places, but I think it would be sutable for young children.
