This remote is awesome as long as you can use a PC!!(no morons allowed) ^ I have had this remote for over a year now and I love it. I have 9 components running with this thing. My only regret is it doesn't command with bluetooth or I would have my PS3 hooked to it too. I run a sony blu-ray player, Directv HDDVR, Panasonic VHS/DVD recorder, 5-disc sony DVD player, Pioneer region-free dvd player, Archos 504 mp3 player, Psyclone HDMI switcher, Pioneer Home Theater receiver, and Hitachi plasma 42 HDTV and with the user-friendly software(as long as your good with the computer and take some time to program it up) I've got this thing down to pushing one button and it turns on everything needed to play blu-ray, or another for DVD, or another for satellite, and then the same button to shut it all off. My wife who is not electronics savvy at all has no problems with it. It took me about 2 weeks to work out any bugs syncing it up with everything and now I only have 2 remotes on the coffee table, this and the blu-ray remote for the PS3. As soon as sony releases a version of this remote with bluetooth capability I will only have one and will love that too! If you have a little brains and are looking for one remote to do everything then don't read any of these stupid bad reviews and get one of these!!!!
Great Results ^ Arrived in perfect condition. Works flawlessly, including all features. Great product used every day.
Sony Remote ^ The remote is wonderful once you get it programmed but the setup process could be a lot cleaner (hence the 4 stars). I started off using the macro wizzard on the PC and it was functional but did not setup the commands I was looking for so I had to figure out how to modify the macro steps myself (once I figured out what was going on it was pretty straight forward but the learning curve was frustrating). Now that all the macros are working in the right order, the remote is very easy to use and is powerful enough to do everything I want so I have put all my other remotes in a drawer and this is the only one we use, it's easy, it's functional and I Love It!
beware of seller 10 twelve ^ I almost bought this remote used from 10 twelve until a lack of return policy worried me. I asked seller if cable & software come with answer was no. That renders remote useless unless you can get these from sony note remote no longer sold by sony.
Seller lowered price but situation still the same
Least user friendly remote imaginable ^ We bought this thinking that we could use it to replace the 4 other remotes (3 of them Sony) and use only 1. We were able to program only the basic (on/off and channel switching, etc.) and then needed to go back to the original remotes for everything else. If Sony doesn't make it easy to program SONY products, I can't imagine what it's like to try to program equipment from other manufacturers. It is actually easier to just use the original remotes - all 4 of them then to try to read the paled out screen of the universal and then to have to go back to the original remotes anyway to fine tune.
