A title for your review (hee hee...) First off, in response to the "One Star Ratings", who say that this is not worth it because the shipping puts it over $20:
That statement only holds water when this product is purchased alone. With purchases of several items, eventually you'll get free shipping.
I love the virtual console. I think it is a very good idea to allow people to buy classic games without the hassle of buying ancient consoles and such.
I recommend buying this with several other items in order to get your money's worth, or just buying them with a credit card on the Wii Shop Channel. ('Cept with a credit card it has tax! ;) )
Card has not use unless you wanna give it to someone for a gift... If you own a Wii then there really isn't a point to buying this card at a retail store when you can online unless you feel like paying in cash. I do think Nintendo is charging to much for points seeing as these games are about ten years old but some are worth it. I'd recommend buying atleast two of these cards off of Amazon.com because the shipping's free if you order atleast two and you won't have to spend and extra 3 or more dollars on tax depending on where you live.
Great Idea I love the Wii Points Card for the virtual console store. It's an unbeatable price : 2000 points for $20 USD. This makes most Nintendo NES System games $5 USD/500 Points, most Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis for 800 points/$8 USD which is a lot less than they originally were in the 80's and 90's. The only problem : It only comes in sets of 2000 points. A 1000, 2500 point or 3000 point card could come in handy for me. Anyways, the Wii Points card is a great alternate to using a credit card.
Wii Points Card Bought as a gift for someone, but I received a few as gifts as well. Allowed me to download a lot of classic nintendo and sega games to play on the Wii.
Re-live the glory days with the Wii Points Card. First and foremost, if you are looking to download Virtual Console games on the Wii, I would recommend purchasing the points directly from the Wii Shop Channel. (You can also gift VC games to your friends if you know their Wii console number, but, as far as I know, there is know way to gift the actual points themselves.) That being said, the Wii Points card is a great way to get points onto your system in the event that you don't have a credit card or it will not work with the system.
Games on the Virtual Console range from games that originally showed up on the original Nintendo Entertainment System up through the Nintendo 64, to include some non-Nintendo systems like the Turbo Grafix 16 and the Sega Genesis. Honestly (sorry, Amazon), but I would only recommend a purchase off of here if your purchase does not have an immediate time frame (such as a gift for a future holiday or birthday). Even then, I would still recommend either purchasing multiple items and/or using the free "super savers" shipping. My reasoning is this: a Wii Points Card can be picked up from a lot retail stores for the amount of the card (in this case $20) plus whatever small amount of tax. However, purchases off of Amazon without the free shipping will have you paying an additional plus or minus $5, basically needlessly.
I believe this is a great product and it has enabled me to download some of the classics that I grew up playing. However, I would just advise caution in the method of purchase.
