Update Eligibility
You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 (including Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Media Center, Windows XP Tablet PC, Windows XP Professional x64, Windows 2000) to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by purchasing and installing this upgrade copy of Windows Vista. Depending on which edition of Windows you are running and the edition of Windows Vista you would like to install, you have two options for the installation process: You can upgrade in-place, which means you can install Windows Vista and retain your applications, files, and settings as they were in your previous edition of Windows or you can do a clean install. If you are currently using Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional x64, you are eligible for an upgrade copy to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista, but a clean install is required. For versions of Windows earlier than Windows 2000, upgrade copies are not available. These earlier versions of Windows require you to install a full copy of Windows Vista.

Easier, Faster Access to Information
Windows Vista Ultimate features Windows Aero, a new interface that delivers higher levels of efficiency for any business user. This easy-to-use interface makes it a snap to navigate through the operating system and from application to application. Most importantly, Windows Aero helps you juggle multiple tasks at once by providing a three-dimensional, real-time, animated view of all your open applications and documents. And for those businesses that do work in other countries, Windows Vista Ultimate supports all worldwide interface languages.

Breakthrough Windows Vista Experience
Designed to help you feel confident in your ability to view, find, and organize information and to control your computing experience, all editions of Windows Vista introduce a breakthrough user experience. The visual sophistication of Windows Vista helps streamline your computing experience by refining common window elements so you can better focus on the content on the screen rather than on how to access it. The desktop experience is more informative, intuitive, and helpful. And new tools bring better clarity to the information on your computer, so you can see what your files contain without opening them, find applications and files instantly, navigate efficiently among open windows, and use wizards and dialog boxes more confidently.

Work From Home
Windows Vista Ultimate includes all of the features that make it easy to remotely connect to business networks. This means that when you're working from home, you'll have advanced networking capabilities, such as the ability to join a domain, support for Group Policy, and access to features such as Remote Desktop. Windows Vista Ultimate also includes Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption that provides improved levels of protection against theft for your important business data whether you are at home, on the road, or in the office.

More Entertainment Options
Windows Vista Ultimate delivers all of the entertainment features available in Windows Vista Home Premium, and includes everything you need to enjoy the latest in digital photography, music, movies, analog TV, or even HDTV. Windows Vista Ultimate also has helpful tools such as Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker to ensure that you have everything you need to collect, manage, and edit your digital content. It also includes Windows Media Center for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center.

Versatile Operation
Windows Vista Ultimate truly lives up to its name by delivering all of the features both business and home users want and need. It is the ideal solution for both a small-business owner who wants a single PC that he or she can use at the office, on the road, and at home, and for someone who wants a home PC that will be used primarily for entertainment purposes but that can also be used for business purposes such as connecting to a corporate network.

1 out of 5 starsVista
Is not worth all the hype. All I have experienced is a least three crashes a day. I'll probably revert back to my all OS or try a non-windows OS.

4 out of 5 starsVista is Working Fine for Me
I have XP running on a bootcamp partition on my MacBook and it is doing just fine. I spend most of my working time in Word, hardly ever using any of the other programs in the Office suite. However, I use the Adobe products Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator a whole bunch. Other than that I play solitaire, watch videos and, of course, use both Explorer and Firefox when I go online. That's about it for me, software wise, and XP handles it all without fail, without crashing and without giving me any headaches.

And I will miss it when I upgrade to Vista, however my machine can handle the upgrade, so I'm giving it a try.

Okay, I like the look and feel of Vista, however it's not as snappy as XP or even System X. I like the AERO bit, quite snazzy and one of the reasons my machine runs a bit slower, I suspect, however I'm loath to turn it off as it's so cool.

Word works fine and that's to be expected. My Adobe software runs well too. The browsers, no problem. I did have to upload a printer driver, but that only took a few minutes and I was good to go.

I've read a lot of reviews by people who are having problems with Vista and I'm getting the SP1 upgrade any day and I'll instal it, but I'm not experiencing the problems others appear to be having. Maybe because it's because I only use four or five programs on my Machine. I don't use iTunes or Windows Media as I still listen to my CDs the old fashioned way and only then if I don't have the phonograph record.

5 out of 5 starsA necessary Evil
The service I got from Amazon was great. I have an iMac, and the only reason I ordered Vista, is because there are still a few vendors out there that don't make their product for Mac, so Windows is a necessary Evil. I put Windows on my Mac hard drive just to run those few programs. Once the vendors make their product for Mac, then bye bye Windows.

1 out of 5 starsDon't even think about it.
Since micro soft support is an absolute joke, I'm left with only the option of telling the truth to the world. Hopefully you will tell everyone you know, as well. Micro soft (junk) vista is nasty. It is Very slow, it is very unstable, takes forever to boot up, takes for ever to load programs, and should be considered a Down-grade not an up-grade. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I had to install it 4 different times to get it to work. And my machine is pretty new with 4 gigs of ram, and dual Athlon CPUs. So don't waste your time or money. I'd give it zero stars if I could. And I am seriously considering taking microjunk to Small Claims Court.

1 out of 5 starsDon't Do It......
I think I have upgraded every Windows version since 3.0, I just cannot believe that this is the hardest one yet. Background on my system: running a dual-core Intel w/ 4GB of RAM and TONS (over 2TB) of disk space. Background on me: I am a former network admin who now works in my company's programming department writing SQL code all day long. Have tried to load the upgrade on a fresh 500GB drive at least 12 times now. It completely crashed every time but one.

The one time it did not crash Vista booted with a black screen and only showed my mouse pointer. Googled that problem and found that it is very common. Only thing is, no one really seems to know the cause. For some people it is the video card, for others it was a smallish HDD (usually a particular Samsung model). Others..... (you get the idea) Bought a new $250 Nvidia video card, same problem. Tried to re-install 4 times after this problem, back to constant crashing during the upgrade.

Have re-installed XP Pro. Was hoping that Vista did a better job with my RAM management but looks like I will never know now. Have been using Microsoft products since the DOS 3.x days but I have to say that if I were to go buy a new computer right now, I would be leaning towards a Mac (now that it runs UNIX).

I read so many other reviews about how bad the upgrade was and thought that there was no way it could be worse than the older ones. Believe them; it really is as bad as they say. In my opinion, if you really want Vista, buy it on a new PC. DO NOT waste tons of time trying to upgrade from XP like I have.
