Amazon.com:
Raised in an Italian convent, 16-year-old Robin Sana returns to her native Japan to join the STNJ, a secret organization that captures, rather than kills, witches of both sexes. The typically mismatched crew includes hacker Michael Lee, rookie Haruto Sakaki, psychic Miho Karasuma, Yurika Dojima, the spoiled daughter of a prominent family, and icily aloof Amon, the de facto leader of the team. As a "craft user," Robin can conjure fire as a weapon, but has some trouble with her aim. Witch Hunter combines the subdued palette of Blood: The Last Vampire with the alienated tone of the Vampire Princess Miyu OVAs. The elegantly designed settings and skillful use of color are more interesting than the flat stories about pursuing the supernatural murderers. All six volumes and a pin collection are included in this set. (Rated 13 and older: violence, alcohol and tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

5 out of 5 starsThree Hundred And Twenty Years Have Passed...A "Witch Hunter Robin" Review
First off, I would like to correct two things from Charles Solomon's review of this anime: 1) Robin's 15, not 16, and 2) Karasuma is not a "psychic", per se. She is able to perform a craft calling "scrying", but it has nothing to do with foretelling the future or anything like that. Sorry Mr. Solomon, but I just can't find a review credible if the reviewer can't even get the simplest of facts straight. But enough of that. On to the review of the anime.

I've seen this series a few times, and can say that it is among my favorites. Every one of the characters contributes something to the series, and they're all different. Although the series persists with a mainly darker tone, there are a few moments throughout in which I found myself laughing, the majority of these moments being when Robin and Amon exchange confused glances, as well as (almost) every time Sakaki and Doujima open their mouths. Even Amon came across as a bit humorous at times, in spite of himself. I was overall really pleased with the way the characters and their relationships developed.

One grievance I have with the series is concerning the character Miho Karasuma. I think the writers could have done more with her. She, at least to me, was one of the most interesting characters, and I wish she had gotten more screentime so we could have seen her develop more. She was probably the most stable of all the characters. She was always level-headed and professional, but also struggled with feelings of doubt during times of hardship and weakness.

I can only hope that people will see this anime the whole way through, and not be turned off by the initial "monster of the week" approach, as the series takes a turn a little less than halfway through. It really is a marvelous series, taking the boundary between human and witch and distorting it until it becomes difficult to distinguish between the two. The soundtrack is superb as well.

4 out of 5 starsRe-watched it recently
Bought this maybe a year ago, watched it when I got it. It was okay. Some of the voice actors you will recognize from other popular anime. I watched it again just a little while ago, again it's okay and my opinion didn't really change about it. I don't know if I will watch it a third time or not though. Some episodes are really good I do have to say that. I think if I watched an episode a week, instead of watching like a DVD (or more) a day, maybe I would have enjoyed it much more, otherwise, IDK, maybe this just wasn't my cup of tea, I like witch movies and stuff like that, but maybe this just doesn't/didn't meet my expectations, I kind of thought it would blow me away, maybe like the way Berserk did. If you are looking for something a bit twisted try that anime, it's a fantasy/horror Manga series.

Even though I may not have went goo-goo for this, you may really like it...

3 out of 5 starsInteresting, starts off a bit slow, but gets better
Witch Hunter Robin starts off as a "monster-of-the-week" type of series which is reminiscent of a cross between the X-Files and the X-Men. It takes a little while for the plot to actually shift gears and get moving into a progressive storyline and it probably would have been better to move into the storyline a little sooner. That said, it's still fun watching and once the plot does develop it gets pretty interesting. Robin is not the most exciting or endearing character - I don't think this is a particularly character-driven anime. What really moves this series is the story, the circumstance and the world it creates. I would have enjoyed seeing a more clear exposition of the rules of their world (ie., what is the difference between a "Witch" and a "Craft User") since even towards the end I felt like I was still piecing some aspects together.

The animation is very pretty - if anything the characters and the settings are wonderful to just sit and stare at. I had some issue with the subtitles - there were moments where I wasn't sure they were the best translation of the Japanese, even though they were not exactly dub-titles either. The English dub can go from decent in one episode to pretty awful in another. Despite the issues with the subtitles, I'd still watch in Japanese to get the best understanding of what is happening.

The box set doesn't look anything like the main product photo. Another user uploaded photos which look like the set. There are no extra papers (literally, no papers) in the set and it's basically just the dvds in a box. This is fine for me but if you're looking for some sort of definitive collector's set, this wouldn't quite fit in your collection. For the anime alone, I would give 3.75 stars, but because of this particular set and the issues I had with it, the product overall is more like 3 stars which is great for the casual anime fan.

4 out of 5 starsGreat Series, but Product is Misrepresented a bit...
I really like this series..I'm not going to review the anime itself, as everyone has different tastes, and nobody needs my opinion to decide whether or not they are going to like something.

With that said....Amazon needs to remove the picture of the collector set, if that is not the set they will be shipping to the customer. I was under the impression that I was getting the set with the pin, but was disappointed when the package arrived without the extras. Amazon, please update your pics, and stop misrepresenting the item.

5 out of 5 starsWtich Hunter Robin
This is one of my favorite anime. Cartoon network seldom shows it. The first thirteen episodes get you acquainted with the characters, with a few hints of things to come. The second half tell of Robin's orgins and everybody's secrets come out.
