Amazon.com Product Description: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is a next-gen experience complete with top-of-the-line graphics and surround sound designed for the Sony PlayStation 3. Featuring the most revealing display of Kojima Production's premier title, MSG4 details the world where Snake must under go his final mission. In a world overrun by private military companies (PMCs), wars are no longer fought over nations or ideologies. Instead, the wars of the future are micro-managed by overarching PMCs, right down to the bullet. New gadgets and abilities fuel Snake's journey deep into the enemy domains of the Middle East, South America, and beyond. New gear includes "Metal Gear Mk. II," the ultimate reconnaissance tool, and "Solid Eye," which gives Snake real-time information on enemies and his surroundings.
Old timer Snake returns for what is slated as the final installment in the Metal Gear series.
New and old characters abound in MGS4.
PMCs have run amok and the world is at war.
Octacamo will help Snake blend into surroundings.
Joined by a familiar cast of characters, Snake must once again return to the battlefield to confront his lifelong rival, Liquid Ocelot, who is manipulating the world's wars from the one world where soldiers will always have a place. But Liquid Ocelot is not the only one who will be able to manipulate the world's wars--Snake can destabilize opposing forces by working behind the scenes, supporting the local militia as they fight PMCs, creating a smokescreen that allows Snake to move freely within the war-zone.
MGS4 is a next-generation adventure set in the aftermath of MGS2: Sons of Liberty. The concept behind the latest Metal Gear Solid project is "no place to hide," and this edition in the series will force Snake into unexpected circumstances with an all-new storyline that breaks away in some ways from the previous MGS franchise entries. We don't want to spoil it for you, but, producer Hideo Kojima did reveal some very juicy tidbits about the game and the storyline when it was first announced at E3 of 2006. "Until now," said Kojima, "we've released two entries of the MSX2 Metal Gear series, and three entries in the Metal Gear Solid series. Add to this Portable Ops, and you get a total of six titles. All mysteries will be cleared up in Metal Gear Solid 4."
Kojima was very clear about the finality of MSG4, leaving gamers to wonder, "Will Snake die?!" When asked if the story will come to this sort of an end, Kojima responded without the slightest bit of vagueness, "It will come to an end." The MGS4 E3 trailer showed a number of characters from the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid histories. This final installment is sure to deliver loads of cameos, in fact, it is rumored that nearly all the characters from the series will make an appearance.
In addition to a return of classic Metal Gear Solid characters, the gameplay systems from part three are also expected to make a comeback. The camouflage system from part three will make it into MGS4, with the addition of "OctoCamo," Snake's most advanced stealth suit to date. The name appears to be formed from the words "Octopus" and "camoflauge," and players will be awestruck by the chameleon-like camo that changes with the surroundings. OctoCamo allows Snake to blend in with his environment as it digitally manifests nearby textures in real time. Think if it this way, if Snake is standing next to a wall worn out with holes, he too will appear to be riddled with holes. It has also been revealed that MGS4 will have online play, but no specifics have been released. Although very little information is known about the game's visuals, rumor has it that MGS4 is expected to be the finest representation of console graphics on the PS3, and it is expected that they will just get better and better as the game nears its release date.
Product Description: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3
Fantastic Game This game is certainly one of the best games that I have ever had the pleasure of playing. You do not have to have played the other metal gears in order to enjoy this particular game. It is a fantastic game as a stand alone. There are some benefits from having played some of the previous installments. This particular installment does use some of the previous ideas from the other installments but it tells you enough information as you go to make the plot followable even without all the installments. Keep in mind that Metal Gear Solid games are not like the average run and gun game. So please only buy it if you like the game type that it is. If you fear that you may not like it I would suggest you pickup MGS3 before you purchase this one since you can get that game to see if you like the style for a much cheaper price first. But if you understand that this game is not a fps and not purely a sneaking game and that it requires you to make the choice as to when and where you use these tactics you will trully enjoy it. I would say having beaten the game to completion that it does have replayability and is a must buy for PS3 owners.
One of the greatest epic games The story is that snake is an old man and hes about to die, but he's the only one that can stop revolver ocelot/solidus. during his chase he meets draken, an arms dealer, and radien, from MGS 2. The game tries to explain some of the most far fetched parts of the story. It does a good job explaining thses things but at times I just want to play the game.
The size of the game is huge, so what they did was to split the game into 5 chapters/parts and after each chapters/parts you would have to install the next chapters/parts. Each intall takes 10 mins. doing this would lessen the total size of the game on the hard drive.
The gameplay it self was improved compared to the previous 3. One of the improvements was the auto-camo suit. where the suit automaticly picks what camo colors to use. Another improvement was how you upgrade and obtian new weapons. Within 20 minutes into the game you'll meet draken, the arms dealer. He can take the weapons you've collected in exchange for credits for upgrades or purchuse new weapons. This was great for boss battles when your out of ammo or when you need something with a kick.
When your finished with the game stick around till the end. I wasn't too surpised what they did at the final end of the game.
Worth it for MGO alone. Metal Gear Solid taught me all about "hyping". Up until the days I played PSX I used to go to my local videostore as a child and rent videogames with my mom. At that age my choices were based on how cool the cover art looked for the title or if it was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartridge. When I picked up that issue of Gamepro back in 97' and saw what this little known stealth game Metal Gear Solid was turning into it became almost an addiction to research upcoming killer apps, wherever I could find the info. Now by todays standards it seems to be the norm to find hype every where you turn for games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots or GTA IV. Guns of the patriots is a must have for any GAMER or metal gear fan alike. The action sequences are varied and can carry over much replay value. The story is a bit convoluted yet doesn't hamper the gameplay one bit. The online feauture; Metal Gear Online is worth the price of admission alone and continues to be updated to this DAY! Just expect to pay for the major add-ons in MGO. I want to keep this short so I can go back to playing the game but if your just starting out in the PS3 game Metal Gear is entry level yet hardcore for any gamer.
Best game so far for the PS3 As simple as that, - A presentation with no equal. (to date) - Great gameplay = a lot of fun... I enjoyed every moment of it. - Interesting story and characters. (Not perfect, but who cares!) - Comes with an online version that's quite fun as well.
This game installs a considerable amount of data on your PS3's Hard Drive. You should have no less than 6GB free for this game.
Perfect This game is the reason people bought the ps3, is by far one of the best game right now in the market and you will not regret it
