The spidery nasties had only seemed like one of many new enemies introduced in previous years. But when the one seemingly omnipotent backbone of the galaxy was asking Earth for help, clearly we were in real trouble! In fact, the team's list of enemies expanded and got far more complicated this year. Proving without a shadow of a doubt that this is science fiction, the Russians reveal they have their own Stargate program and ask the Americans for help. There were quite a few Earth-based stories in the year, but not all the new enemies were originally local. Willie Garson comically guest-starred as Martin, a geekily suspicious guy with too much knowledge of the Stargate. More sinister was an old flame of Daniel's turning into something far more painful than an old wound (thanks to an ancient Egyptian curse). Thankfully, the writers hadn't forgotten the importance of one-off storylines too. In "Upgrades" the team learns a lesson in abuse of power. In "The Other Side" (featuring DS9's Rene Auberjonois) they learn about blind trust. In "Scorched Earth" a dangerous claim for a planet's ownership means they learn to value Daniel's contribution to the group dynamic. If only this last lesson were learned better, season 5 might not have ended up as muddled as it did. --Paul Tonks

Thrilling Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Chris Judge & Michael Shanks makes this show what it is today. I think that every season is getting better & better, I hope that Stargate SG-1 stays on course for many more season's and more motion pictures on the big screen. Thanks to all the writers and directors
BEST EPISODE EVER: Window of opportunity This season contains the episode voted most popular for the marathon count down. "Window of Opportunity" represents the humor, philosophy, and human interest that made this series so popular. If you can't decide which season to buy, I recommend this one.
Enjoyed the walk down memory lane :-) Season 4 was the first Stargate series I purchased. Really enjoyed catching some of the episodes that I had already watched, although the bulk of the episodes were new to me. I liked the development of Daniel's role, though some episodes seemed to be a little dull. All in all, an enjoyable season.
One of the best Sci-Fi series ever made I started watching Stargate SG-1 several years ago, and after my wife watched one episode with me she was hooked too so we bought all the seasons on DVD. We're about half-way through Season 4 and it's just as good as the first three seasons. Love it, love it, love it.
