Amazon.com: Combining a traditional corded handset with a 5.8 GHz cordless handset, the Uniden CEZAI998 offers cordless convenience when you want it, but will continue to provide basic phone service in the event of a power outage. The design also makes it an ideal choice for people with visual or hearing impairments: backlit, oversize keypad buttons on both the base and the cordless handset, an LED visual ring indicator and complete hearing aid compatibility work together to improve functionality. The base includes a fully digital answering system with up to 15 minutes of recording time. Additional features include an audible message alert, toll saver, remote message retrieval and a choice between personalized or prerecorded outgoing messages. With subscription to local service, the phone is compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID, and will display the name, number and date and time of each call on the oversize, backlit LCD, and will store up to 50 names and numbers so you can return calls at the touch of a button. Even without Caller ID service, a phonebook stores 10 of your most frequently-dialed numbers. What's in the Box: Base, two AC adapters, telephone line cord, corded handset, charging cradle, battery cover, handset battery, belt clip, user's guide, warranty card
Great phones I bought both phones for my grandma. She loves them, she has eye problems and the phones have large buttons for her. They were easy to install and very good for seniors.
Great Value I wanted a corded phone to ensure access in case of a power outage, I wanted an answering machine so that I could get rid of the overpriced Voicemail package from the phone company, I wanted buttons I could see without my reading glasses AND I wanted a cordless phone. This product filled the bill. EVERYTHING in one package! The base also has a speakerphone for handsfree conversations. Only drawback is the color: white, which is difficult to keep clean, so unless you are fussy about smudges, this is the one!
Just What Mom Wanted! I helped my nearly 90-year old mom choose a phone to replace a similar one that had stopped working, and which had been discontinued. We checked all the alternatives, and found this to be the best. It arrived on time, and she managed to set it up without too much additional help. It works fine and she's very pleased to have both the cordless phone and corded base.
Okay phone for hearing not sight problems Phone does everything it should- talking CID, Speaker phone, answering machine etc. Both the corded and cordless sets have good increase in hearing volumes and ringers. Draw back on cordless handset is the backlight on the cid window is not bright like the corded set window and is hard to see unless room is brightly lit. Otherwise it is agreat phone.
Works as advertised I purchased this phone for my mother who is 91 and still quite active. Obviously ones hearing, sight becomes impaired when you grow older and the same applies to other senses. I set this up for her with the extension phone and she is quite content. The set up was VERY SIMPLE. The volume control on both the main unit and extension works well for her, larger numbers, backlight, blinking ringer light, loud ringer, etc. The controls don't have the complexity that many phones have. Seems the older generation has difficulty comprehending advanced electronics. All seems to work great and she is doing just fine with it. Having the main unit as a cord type phone is a good option in the event of power failure. As far as the research I've done, before purchase, this is the best value for the money spent for someone with age related impairments. I would suggest keeping the manual under the cordless phone if a future adjustment is necessary. Those that still have their ageing parents know what I'm saying. The reason for four stars is simply the time factor. It's difficult to determine how it will hold up in the long run. For example, how will it work when she is 115? Ok . . . I'm an optimist. :)
