grammie of 6 Read the reviews before I purchased it..and they were right.. It is a great toy My grandson only 2 1/2 loves dinosaurs so i bought all i could find and this one is so realistic to him Love it
Very cool gift for a little boy When I was looking for a birthday present for my 5 year old nephew, I couldn't pass this one up. When you push a button on the dinosaur's back, it slowly and realistically sways its neck and moves its head while it roars and its eyes glow. When he opened it at his birthday party, the reaction was exactly what I was hoping for. All of the boys said "whoa!" and everyone wanted to try it out. They couldn't wait to get it out of the box.
This is a very cool toy and appears to be made very well. Fisher Price is typically reliable for making durable, safe toys. I definitely recommend this for any boy who loves dinosaurs and/or adventure play.
2 Year old Loves It! I got this for my son's 2nd birthday along with the motorized triceratops. He loves it. It's very durable, looks like it will withstand plenty of play.
To operate it, the child presses (and holds) a button on the lower back of the t-rex, around the tale, just where a child playing with the toy would grip it anyway. When pressed the T-Res flahes its eyes red and snaps its neck around and roars. It does not move forward of its own accord like the triceratops (also a very cool toy if you liked this one - get that one for sure!)
The only downside I'd say is that my son probably would like it more if he could just push a button and it would do its thing (like with the triceratops) rather than holding it down (he's still little for that concept to sink in), but I'm sure for older kids this isn't any issue at all. Overall, a great line of toys, very cool.
Update - 3 months later he still loves this toy - just dragged it into my kitchen in fact!
Best Green Dinosaur, ever! My son, who is 3, loves dinosaurs and everything green. This toy was perfect. The dinosaur comes in Green and Red. I bought green for my son and gave the red one to his cousin. They have dino wars. This dinosaur moves, roars, and flashes its eyes red, which looks really cool in the dark. My son flys it around the room & uses it to attack other toys. This proved to be a such agreat toy, I bought another (#2) green dino to have my son and husband have dino fights. This toy is the best I have found.
Realistic movement, cool sound effects My 3-year old son loves dinosaurs, and as soon as he saw this one in the store, he knew without a doubt that Santa would bring it. We weren't planning on getting it for him, so when we asked if he would be sad if Santa didn't bring it, he replied he wouldn't be, because Santa would DEFINITELY bring it for him. It's all he wanted.
I was concerned that it was the type of toy he would play with for maybe an hour or so, then get bored with it, so I was hesitant to get it. But we ended up getting it for him, and since Christmas it's rarely been in a different room than my son. He has plastic dinosaurs, and dinosaur books also, so he always has his favorite T-Rex when he's playing with them.
He uses it to eat the other ones or to fight them. My 18-month old steals it every chance he gets because he loves the roaring and motion also. When it's quiet-time, there is a convenient 'off' switch on the foot. It's pretty tough, as it's been dropped and kicked a few times, and works just as good as ever. Overall a great investment, lots of fun for everyone, and has lots of potential to fit into my son's play style.
