Be careful what you do We bought this gift last Christmas for our 9 year old grandaughter. She has just visited us and brought the 'spy car' with her. It's still going strong and is so much fun. She had a sleepover a few months ago and the car was the hit of the party. Just be sure to close doors if you don't want little ones to see what you're doing.
It's educational if you consider learning how to look through one eye as educational!!!
fantastic toy I have now bought 3 of these, 2 for grandchildren and 1 for my daughter of second marriage. The children are absolutely thrilled with them, and mums and dads keep wanting to play. It's VR with reality, way better than a simple remote controlled car or any on-screen simulation. As an engineer I was impressed with the quality - solid and rugged though heavy but that's the price you pay for solid engineering. It uses rather a lot of batteries but it's worth it. The packing is excellent too - items actually screwed into the pack rather than tied. A lot of thought has gone into every aspect. Excellent value for money.
My boys 6 and 10 LOVE it! After over 5 months of rigorous play with two of these Spy Video cars, my boys' cars are still going strong. I am pleasantly surprised by this. In addition to the boys, ages 6 and 10, we have a 4-year-old daughter who has gotten to play with these also. The cars have been crashed into each other, kids, the dog, and walls hundreds of times, but there has been no damage to the cars. Even having the cars and headsets strewn around in the playroom and boys' bedroom hasn't broken them. Like I said, I'm surprised.
My kids have never complained about the quality of the video or audio. They think it's great. The cars have never gotten boring for my guys. The only down side I can think of is that, after the first week, I never noticed the cars "watching" us. I'm not sure if my kids have seen or heard things that maybe they shouldn't have. :-)
Save your money My son received this for Christmas. The first car would not even move or shoe that it even had power. The replacement that was sent was without the night vision (which was on the first car). but it did moved in about 1/2" jerks. Never smooth and the eye peice was nothing but "white". I gave up and requested a refund. My son has been terribly disappointed. I called Wild Planet for 2 weeks before I received a response 1 week after my last call. All the tech reviews of this product were positive. I guess I just got a "lemon" evidently 2 of them.
Fairly Quiet Toy, Yet It Keeps Them Occupied for Hours My sons got this for Christmas and just love it! I enjoyed playing with it, too. Have lots of batteries on-hand, though. After an involved day or two of play, you'll need to replace the batteries. It also gets slower as the batteries run out and the video feed wavers although the car will still drive for a while with poor video. If you're not a pushover like me, changing the batteries when the video signal gets weak, your batteries will last you longer. It's one of the best toys the boys have ever had, unlike a lot of toys that look cool but barely work. No assembly--just insert batteries and plug in the eye viewer and go-go-go!
