Description:
Explore the harrowing world of The Boondock Saints as never before in this Unrated Special Edition! Digitally remastered for extraordinary picture quality and exploding in 5.1 EX Dolby Surround Sound, this definitive two-disc edition of the cult phenomenon features deleted scenes, outtakes, two audio commentaries, a printable script and more!

Hot on the trail of the assailants behind the brutal murder of Russian thugs, FBI agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) is surprised to discover the killers are Irish twin brothers (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) who believe they've been chosen to rid the world of evil. But as they unleash more brutality on the criminals of Boston's underworld, Smecker finds himself torn between busting the vigilantes?and joining them!

Amazon.com:
Charismatic young stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus play two Irish brothers, Connor and Murphy, who believe themselves ordained by God to rid the world of evil men. Their first killing is in self-defense; but after that, they start killing with devotion, gunning down a summit of the Russian mafia. Willem Dafoe plays a gay FBI agent (he listens to opera while examining crime scenes) who knows what the boys are doing but feels that their vigilante tactics are necessary. There's not much plot to The Boondock Saints--it's mostly a series of violent scenes in which the boys are partially ingenious and partially lucky. The movie seems to want to provoke debate about vigilantism, but the scenario is too implausible to stir any real controversy. The peculiar mix of earnestness and machismo will not appeal to everyone, but it's certainly unique and may acquire a cult following. --Bret Fetzer

5 out of 5 starsAction packed ride of revenge!
Willem Dafoe is highly entertaining as a gay detective in persuit of Irish twin brothers (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) on a city wide death spree.
This movie successfuly combines action and comedy. It's a very strong movie with strong beliefs.

These 2 twins are highly relgious and practice vigilante justice under the pretence of clensing the world of sinners. These guys do what each of us imagine we could.

The bad things they do are justified in their minds because they are being done to bad people.

5 out of 5 starsawesome
I do believe that this is one of the best movies every written, directed, acted, etc. since the great movie, Saving Private Ryan.Loved this movie.

1 out of 5 starsSee the documentary "Overnight" ...
... made by two guys involved in the making of Boondock Saints (an unintentionally funny movie made by a ridiculous guy.) Real life is so much more interesting than fiction.

5 out of 5 starsone of the best (and strangest) film nobody has ever heard of
This is a great film, but it never got the attention or exposure it deserved. People compare it to Quentin Tarentino, but that doesn't do it justice. Quentin Tarentino has never done an original film in his life. Its all just homaige and 1970s explotation nostalgia. The other thing it has that Tarantino doesn't have is a sense of humor. In a certain way it owes more to something like fight club than tarantino. There are lots of "stand up and be a man" moments in the film.

The structure of the film with the police investigating what happened and then showing what happened worked well. The flaws in the film are a slow start and the lack of an ending. Its a film with a particular audience and appeal. Its not going to go over well with people outside that audience.

The film should really be remade with a bigger budget. With tweaks to the script and some more expensive action sequences, a new version of this film marketed properly would bring in a ton of money.

5 out of 5 starsAn Undiscovered Gem
I watched this for the first time just a couple weeks ago and now I own the unrated special edition. I couldn't believe a movie like this was not a major release. A very powerful movie with heavy subject matter. It's the kind of movie that really gets inside of you. I thought the actors were great except from some minor slipping of the Irish accent of the two main characters.

I truly think that this us an undiscovered gem of movies, a must own. That said, I think you also have to enjoy a certain type of movie to enjoy this like Braveheart, Goodfellas, etc. Some people might not like the violence, which I thought was necessary to tell the story effectively. I highly recommend this movie and wish there was a sequel or even a prequel.
