Album Description: The thrilling, epic, and beautiful score for Stargate: Atlantis was composed by Joel Goldsmith, son of the legendary film composer Jerry Goldsmith. Featured on this CD is the show's fantastic main theme, which was recently nominated for an Emmy Award.
Better than I thought it would be! I bought this for my wife for Christmas because we had just finished watching the 3rd season on DVD and she remarked that she liked the music. I personally am not a huge fan of soundtrack CDs but I bought this for her and hoped she would enjoy it.
Well, she's played it several times over our main sound system (she really likes it) and I've been amazed at how much I've enjoyed it, at least the parts I've heard. (Of course, we all know the opening theme is a classic, but that's only about a minute of the CD.)
Hopefully I'll soon find an opportunity to listen to it from start to finish.
Theme is awesome The theme is the best on this soundtrack but it is too short. I plan to burn it and the ending one with track 11 and make a long replay version.
Opening Title This is about what you would expect. I just happen to love the opening title. The rest is not bad either.
Stargate Atlantis soundtrack Another great soundtrack. Now I need to purchase the DVDs. Thank you very much.
Joel Goldsmith is the master of the Sci-Fi music genre! I've been a huge fan of "Atlantis" since the show began back in 2004. I was particularly excited when the first strains of "O'Neill Inbound" began during the pilot episode, and the same excitement for the show and it's gorgeous music has continued all the way though the third season. When I first saw that "Stargate: Atlantis" music was being put out on CD, I nearly freaked out. I immediately purchased the CD, and, when it arrived, it was immediately put into my CD player--and my iPod--and it hasn't been removed since! This CD is definitely worth having, putting in your CD player, and pushing "repeat." Joel Goldsmith's talent for music shines through every note, from the soft tones of "Messages," to the Athosian's theme in "Teyla's Village," to the creepy/exciting Wraith themes in "Wraith Abductions," "Wraith Lair," and "Dart Battle." And, of course, the "Main Title" was nominated for an Emmy! This is one of the best CD's on the market in my opinion, and Joel Goldsmith deserves a hundred kudos for another job well done!
