Description: Action Comedy based on the hit television series that ran from 1979-85. Amazon.com: The teaming of Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie) and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?) as well as the presence of the '70s-flavored car chases that were a specialty of the TV series guarantees that The Dukes of Hazzard will be even more lowbrow than the CBS TV series (1979-85) that inspired it. However, this brain-damaging comedy is more "rehash" than "remake," as good ol' Georgia boys Luke Duke (Knoxville) and his cousin Bo (Scott) are frequently upstaged by the General Lee, the Confederate-flagged '69 Charger that they drive, jump, race, and fly in as they smuggle moonshine for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). Meanwhile, cousin Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) is reliably available to model her short-shorts (aka "Daisy Dukes") and awesome figure (and let's face it, Simpson's talents pretty much begin and end right there), while corrupt honcho Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds, who should know better) recruits a local NASCAR star to advance his wily scheme of converting Hazzard County into a strip mine. Director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) manages to mine some good-natured humor from the movie's oval-track detour and a few colorful supporting players (notably Kevin Hefferman as the Duke's pal Sheev). Otherwise, consider yourself warned: The Dukes of Hazzard is shameless Hollywood product at its most forgettable, trafficking in shameless white, rural Southern stereotypes. New version of the classic!! What can i say this is a perfect movie for any dukes of hazzard fan. They really went out of there way to get everything exactly as the show. Minus all the pauses during the shows. Its very funny. A must have for any dukes of hazzard fan.
Super great! I bought this movie because I love american musclecars, and this time I did not want a serious movie like The Deer Hunter. I wanted to laught and have a beer with my friends watching this movie and that is what I got. I really like this movie. I dont know how this movie is compared to the series but Im gonna get season one on dvd. Redneck is cool!
Dalton's review This movie takes place in Hazzard county and Atlanta Georgia. This movie is about how the Duke boys save Hazzard County from getting mined. They steal core samples from a trailer and tested them to find out what they were. They win the Hazzard county race and save Hazzard County just in time. This movie is a great movie. I really like this movie because I have always watched the Dukes of Hazzard. Older people may not like this newer movie because it isn't like the older TV version. Children under thirteen probably shouldn't watch this unrated movie because it has women's nudity at the college that they go visit and because of the language. But other than that it is a really good movie. I think that it is a really good movie for kids anywhere from thirteen to adult and the regular version is good for any age.
Dreadful I expected an light entertaining movie. This was dreadful. Casting was horrible. Couldn't they have found appealing leads? And no, it didn't have to mirror the original show, but the original show was light hearted, pleasant, fun. This was just annoying, irritating, etc. Even people like Burt Reynolds who can handle light weight fare like this just couldn't seem to make it!
Such a Disappointment OMG... what a mess. While I didn't expect it to be as wonderful as the original series I certainly didn't expect it to be as badly done as it was. Other than Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse, the casting (in my opinion) was all wrong. This movie was sleazy and stupid. They made Jessica Simpson look and act like trash as Daisy Duke -- Catherine Bach never seemed so sleazy... she was innocent and cute/pretty. Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville were totally bafoonish...just awful! The original Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat) were smart, sweet and mischeivious in an innocent way. The only thing original about this movie was the General Lee...
Sleazy and stupid. So not worth the price of admission or the price of a DVD. Watch this on cable and call it a day. You are missing nothing!
