Amazon.com: In a place called Halloweentown, good and evil look very different than one might expect. Thanks to a visit from Grandmother Aggie (Debbie Reynolds), Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) and her family's tradition of ignoring the Halloween holiday are about to change in the extreme. It seems that Marnie's mother Gwen (Judith Hoag) has been hiding a big secret from her three children--all of them possess supernatural powers. Now that it's Marnie's thirteenth birthday, she must begin her training as a witch or lose her powers forever. While Gwen wants nothing more than to see her children grow up as "normal" humans, Grandmother Aggie and Marnie have other ideas. A brewing crisis between good and evil in the alternate world Halloweentown soon pulls the entire family through a portal and into an intense battle against ghouls, goblins and the warlock Kalabar (Robin Thomas). Halloweentown II takes place two years after Halloweentown and finds Kalabar's son bent on revenge. Marnie has matured as a witch, but her powers are pushed to the limit in a desperate effort to triumph over an evil curse in order to save Halloweentown, her family and the human world. This is good Disney Halloween fun with nice costuming and special effects, a wholesome message about the power of family, cooperation and perseverance, and ghouls that, though creepy looking, aren't likely to inspire nightmares in younger family members. Don't Have To Be A Kid To Enjoy I just ordered both Halloweentown 1&2 and Halloweentown High. I was just looking to see what was on tv this week and saw that all four Halloweentowns are airing over a 4 night period on Disney. Even though I am an adult I enjoy watching the first 3 every year and decided to check out Amazon for them. Glad I did.
They are good family entertainment which is very difficult to find today. Not scary for the kids and really enjoyable. I was not as stuck on the fourth one as much as the first three. I will watch that again first and then decide if I am going to order it.
Halloweentown Great movies for young and old...Has just enough scare to it to keep the kids excited but no vulgar language..great fall movie to share with family..Both movies are very good..
"Love the Halloweentown Series!" I bought the entire series. Love Debbie Reynolds. I was a bit upset when they changed the original character of Marnie from Kimberly J. Brown to Sara Paxton but I still purchased it. And Debbie was hardly seen in the "Return to Halloweentown" episode. I will buy another episode if it is ever released. Highly recommend it. Five stars.
Old with New Kimberly J. Brown does it again!!!! Debbie Reynolds adds a little touch of the past flare to the movie as well.
A Disney Channel Keeper!! Both these movies are awesome!! As a girl who has always loved Halloween, I would say these are my favorite movies. Halloweentown is mostly set on Marnie, a 13 year old girl who has always had a thing for out of the ordinary. Also joined by her brother Dylan, and her sister Sofie. The kids are never allowed to go trick or treating, or going to parties on Halloween. Every year grandma Aggie shows up on halloween and brings the kids treats and all sorts of stuff! Later that night Aggie and Mom are arguing about if Marnie doesn't begin her training with magic as a powerful witch, she'll lose her powers forever! Over hearing it all, Marnie,Dylan, and Sofie follow their grandmother to Halloweentown. Where they discover the "dark thing", an evil being who plans to distroy all humans. Can they stop the dark thing before it's to late?
Halloweentown 2 starts on Halloween where the kids are a bit older. Marnie meets Kal,and shows him her grandmother's room. Meanwhile Aggie finds somthings wrong with her never-ending bag. Aggie and Marine return to Halloweentown to infestigate. But suddenly Halloweentown, which is supposed to be fun and colorful, with strange creatures, is now filled with dull, gray humans. Can Aggie and Marnie get to the bottom of this before it's to late?
