Mario's Best RPG All the Mario RPG's are very fun, and are second only to Mario's platformers, but Paper Mario 2 is by far the best one. The combat system of this game is nearly perfect, and the storyline is better than any other Mario game out there. This has incredible replay value, a 40+ hour adventure that you'll want to replay over and over again. Plus finding all the game's secrets takes an additional 10+ hours. The graphics and sound of this game are also pretty far above average. This is Mario's best RPG and the best game on Gamecube as well. I rate this game 99.5/100.
Paper mario RPG I do not like RPG games but the only reason i have this is because its mario. I dont know why i dont like RPGs but for some reason i get very bored when i play them. So every time i played it i had a friend with me so i would not get bored and then i got further. So every time i play an RPG game is when i have a friend over. After a while it is a pretty fun game so i play it more now. The graphics r great for paper mario and the sound is awsome. The reason i dont like RPG games is because it takes forever to battle someone. U have to choose what move u want to do to defeat each enemy and it takes forever especially if its a boss. Another reason i dont like RPGs is because thats what pokemon is and i wont even look at pokemon because i hate it so much. Anyway this is fun for an RPG.
Fun game, but overall feels like a rerun Paper Mario, as the title suggests, is a 2D version of Mario. He runs around in a 3D world, fighting enemies in typical RPG fashion but with a flair, and occasionally using his 2D-ness to solve puzzles. This fairly standard formula would be death (or doomed to the bargain bin) for any other game, but Paper Mario rises above this with it's charm and humor.
The game itself feels like a redo of the previous game in the series: Paper Mario (for the Nintendo 64), but plays fairly well. Mario travels through various areas finding friends to help do battle against an evil menace (who kidnapped the princess). Along the way, there's plenty of humor and the occasional alternate scene to break up the gameplay. This works okay, but at times all you want is another bowser stage, or to get out of the princess stage (or vise versa). Likewise, as the game progresses, the formula stales a bit, leaving the gamer invested due to the time put in, but no longer (as) interested to finish. Thankfully, this occurs late into the game, at least not draining the player too much.
Ultimately, this game, while fun, doesn't live up to some of the previous games in the Mario RPG family, such as Mario RPG for the Super Nintendo, or Mario and Luigi for the Gameboy Advance. By itself, it's still a decent title that's worth picking up, especially if you're dying for a fairly lite role playing game.
Difficulty (out of 10): 5 Time to Complete: in the 25-30 hour range Requires basically no backstory, except for the typical Mario setting. Good for someone that doesn't like RPGs? Not really. Good for a kid? Yes. 8+ (who likes either Mario or RPGs)
Awesome game!! Bought this game for my step son... I think I have played it more than he has. We both love it... Awesome Game.... Very Addicting.. Very challenging...
Entertaining & fun Liked the game overall - people who didn't like the original Mario RPG game for SNES or Paper Mario for N64 won't like this one either. Lots of talking / fight scenes / and tasks to be performed. Some of it can be repetitive, but it's entertaining and has about 20 hours of gameplay.
