Marvel HeroClix takes about 20 minutes to learn and a game lasts about an hour. This starter set includes 1 rulebook, 1 map, 1 abilities card, 1 set of object and special tokens, 2 dice, 1 turning ring, and 6 preselected, prepainted figures.
All you should need to get started. It says this is only available online, but I bought my copy at my local comic/RPG shop. The set comes with 2 maps you can use with your Heroclix figures (a section of the outside of Xavier's School (from the X-Men), and on the other side is the outside of the Avengers mansion), a Powers and Abilities sheet, a booklet with the complete rules and a checklist of all the characters released in this particular Heroclix expansion, and 6 preselected figures, including some of the most popular Marvel characters of the moment (thanks to all the recent movies). Spider-Man, Wolverine, Sabretooth, Electra, and also includes Hobgoblin and Wasp, all of which are done well. Some Heroclix sculpts were done rather badly (such as the Supergirl, and Shadowcat ones) but these are all pretty good.
This box should be all you need to play, though you may want to get a few boosters, just to have some more heroes/villians to put on your teams.

Good Toy This is a really good set. It comes with 6 figures, (Spiderman, Wolverine, Hobgoblin, Elektra, Wasp, Sabertooth)2 dice, Instructions, a 2 sided map, (X-mens mansion outdoors, and The Avengerers mansion outdoors) and a turning ring which is cool.
Highly Enjoyable, Highly Addictive Heroclix is one of the best products to hit the market this millennium. Based off of the award-winning Mage Knight game, Heroclix allows you to reinact your favorite comic book battles in a minatures-based strategy game. This starter kit contains Sabretooth, Wolverine, Wasp, Elektra, Hobgoblin, and Spider-Man. It also includes a map, objects, and dice - everything needed to play the game. You can also enhance both your collection and the playability of the game with boosters, which are available separately.
The only real drawback is that the game tends to get expensive, as it is extremely addictive. A few packs are plenty to play the game, but I have yet to see someone stop at just a few packs.
