Product Description:
The railroad's got to run through the town of Rock Ridge. How do you drive out the townfolk in order to steal their land? Send in the toughest gang you've got...and name a new sheriff who'll last about 24 hours. But that's not really the plot of Blazing Saddles just the pretext. Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film many call his best gets started logic is lost in a blizzard of gags jokes quips puns howlers growlers and outrageous assaults upon good taste or any taste at all. Cleavon Little as the new lawman Gene Wilder as the wacko Waco Kid Brooks himself as a dim-witted politico and Madeline Kahn in her Marlene Dietrich send-up that earned an Academy Award nomination all give this sagebrush saga their lunatic best. And when Blazing Saddles can't contain itself at the finale it just proves the Old West will never be the same!Running Time: 93 min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY UPC: 085391895923

Amazon.com essential video:
Mel Brooks scored his first commercial hit with this raucous Western spoof starring the late Cleavon Little as the newly hired (and conspicuously black) sheriff of Rock Ridge. Sheriff Bart teams up with deputy Jim (Gene Wilder) to foil the railroad-building scheme of the nefarious Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman). The simple plot is just an excuse for a steady stream of gags, many of them unabashedly tasteless, that Brooks and his wacky cast pull off with side-splitting success. The humor is so juvenile and crude that you just have to surrender to it; highlights abound, from the lunkheaded Alex Karras as the ox-riding Mongo to Madeline Kahn's uproarious send-up of Marlene Dietrich as saloon songstress Lili Von Shtupp. Adding to the comedic excess is the infamous campfire scene involving a bunch of hungry cowboys, heaping servings of baked beans and, well, you get the idea. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 starsFunny
One of the funniest movies ever. The racial slur is nothing that you haven't heard in every rap song ever written.

5 out of 5 starsGreat Movie!
I think this movie is one of the best Mel Brooks movies ever made. It's a great comedy that is not politically correct and I love that. He's not afraid to push the envelope with his movies. They have moments that just make you blush. I also recommend his movie History of the World Part I. Great great movie!

5 out of 5 stars"Never Give a Saga an Even Break"
Mel Brooks and company offer an endless supply of sight gags, one-liners and social commentary in this classic sagebrush satire. The priceless rapport between Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder guarantees repeat viewings. Harvey Korman lost his "almost-certain Academy Award nomination" as the villainous Hedley Lamarr, but Madeline Kahn received Oscar acknowledgment for her Marlene Dietrich parody. In terms of sheer laugh content, "Blazing Saddles" survives as Brooks' finest hour - political correctness be damned.

5 out of 5 starsBest comedy of all time
If you have only seen Blazing Saddles on network TV where all the vulgarities have been dubbed over, you haven't really seen Blazing Saddles. The sanitized version leaves you wondering why people think the movie is funny. The uncensored version leave you laughing, and laughing, and laughing. Heck, I saw it when it first came out and I have watched my VHS copy over the years and I still enjoy it. I bought this DVD version to have a more permanent copy. I don't mind that it lacks a lot of extra content. All I wanted was a good copy of the original movie, and that's what I got.

5 out of 5 starsA Mel Brooks Classic
Don't buy this movie if you are easily offended; every race and ethnic group is made light hearted fun of. If you are a Mel Brooks fan this is a must have.
