A bit dated, but has been a good mouse for years. I've now owned this mouse for 5 years and it just keeps on truckin'--it's totally compatible with all of the Bluetooth machines in my office, and although it's now heavily battered, I still love the sucker. These days, my main mouse is now a newer model Logitech, but I just love the mid- to high-end Logitech devices all the way.
Great Mouse, could be a really great mouse Pros: Great weight and size. Good buttons. The scroll wheel is tight feeling and has detents. Responsive enough for most gaming. Good battery life even when gaming. Rechargeable (also, charging dock does NOT need to plug into the computer IF your computer has built in Bluetooth. Bluetooth.
Cons: No off switch! Batteries shipped with mouse came DOA. Had to get replacement Ni-MH batteries.
I'm very happy with this mouse. I use it with my MacBook Pro and have no complaints. One very important piece of this experience is the freeware SteerMouse to help me map the buttons. I think I would use it even if Logitech had working mouse software for the mac. This is a very capable Mac mouse.
Love this mouse! i bought this item for a custom computer i built and its a great mouse! rechargable! batteries have lasted me for over 2 years and still holds a great charge! still have to charge daily. no prob. don't even need software to get this thing working on your pc. everything works except the application switching button. great product logitech!!!
Batteries will not stay charged. For some reason, the base will not recharge the batteries. It seems that it will only charge if the computer is turned on, and yes, the power cord is plugged in. Since this is on our laptop, it stays off most of the time.
Another problem, or concern, is that the bluetooth loading window takes a while to load and sometimes will not load, or lock.
In short, this is a crummy wireless mouse. When it actually charges the batteries and loads into windows, it works great and has a good feel. If you want a wireless mouse, get the standard RF mouse. If you need bluetooth, then buy a bluetooth transmiter.
Excellent mouse I've gone from MX700 to MX1000 to G5 (all logitech, of course), and after getting a laptop with Bluetooth embedded, thought the MX900 would compliment it nicely. I wasn't disappointed. The MX900 runs seamlessly, without needing the provided charging base to be plugged in, exactly as I'd hoped.
I use it to game, or whenever I think it'd be more convenient that the trackpoint/touchpad. I'm very happy with it.
