Amazon.com: Pitting Hong Kong legend Jet Li against UK tough guy Jason Statham seems like a surefire way to generate on-screen heat, and action fans will get a good deal of just that from the action-heavy War. Unfortunately, they also have to slog through a clichéd-riddled story about world-weary FBI agent Statham, who's gunning for Li, the master assassin that killed his partner years before, and who's currently neck-deep in a turf war between yakuza and triad gangs. Philip G. Atwell's style-over-substance direction doesn't help matters either, though he does have a way with shootouts and other combative set pieces. As for Li and Statham, their scenes together are surprisingly limited; there's also a twist in the film's final third that begs for serious suspension of disbelief. In short, those that found the duo's last movie team-up (2001's The One) lacking won't find much here to supplant that memory. The DVD includes three commentary tracks: one by Atwell, one by screenwriters Lee Anthony Smith and Gregory J. Bradley (it's the liveliest of the lot) and an audio trivia track that delves deep into the film's production, which is also covered in detail by nine separate featurettes. A gag reel and deleted/extended scenes round out the supplemental features. -- Paul Gaita
Bad Movie! Horrible script and fight scenes! Would have expected more from these two action stars! Rented it and it wasn't worth the $5.
Bad Movie it was like a huge episode of CSI.....lame. very lame...i fell asleep it was so boring. waste of a blu-ray :\ jason statham and jet-li can do way better than this....
War ( Blu-ray ) first off,i am a big Jet Li fan,so everything he makes I'm gonna rate high,i watch War on my PS3 via my Full HD LCD and i must say the high def picture quality from Lionsgate is perfect, color contrast also brilliant,to the surround soundtrack you have a choice of PCM 7.1 or Dolby Digital Surround EX,i chose the PCM 7.1 soundtrack and boy i was in audio heaven.you can hear the separation from surround side and surround back, the movie itself was also brilliant from director Philip G Attwell, which also directed The Up In Smoke Tour,i must also admit the end was a little confusing, but overall a very enjoyable movie
7.1 Soundtrack I brought this title for a training event. It was one of only a few that actually has a legit 7.1 channels of sound. While the movie itself was "so-so", the disc has a good menu and very comprehensive. I did find that the disc heavily uses flash menus and this made the menu navigation a little jerky, but this is a player thing. I found that A PS3 navigates these menu's easily. If you want to have a 7.1 surround sound track and have a receiver that can handle it, this is a good disc. I couldn't say that there was one track I used as they are all a little lame, but if you hunt through, you can 'A-B' some good bits...
Great Movie I just love Jason Statham's movies. He gives it a lot of action and excitement. I would recommend this movie to my friends and family.War (Widescreen Edition)
