Description: "PK Tech Girl": Our crew encounters the drifting derelict of the most feared Peacekeeper battleship, Zelbinion. The discovery has a devastating effect on Rygel... it's the first ship on which he was imprisoned. And Aeryn is finding herself jealous of the attraction she witnesses between Crichton and Gilina, the PK technician they have met aboard the Zelbinion. But as our crew comes under attack by the Sheyangs, a race of savage scavengers, all must put their emotions aside and focus on the battle they face...
"That Old Black Magic": A simple trip to a commerce planet turns into a life-or-death nightmare for Crichton when he is tricked by the dark sorcerer, Maldis. As his spirit literally gets torn from his body, Crichton is transported to a dark supernatural world and forced to battle his arch enemy, Crais, in a deadly game designed to entertain Maldis. It is up to Zhaan to save Crichton, but to do so, she must rekindle a dark side within herself that she thought was buried forever...
"DNA Mad Scientist": When a mysterious DNA researcher, Namtar, holds high the promise of helping Zhaan, D'Argo, and Rygel return to their home worlds, they will let nothing stand in their way. Caught up in their excitement, they begin to turn against each other, with no price seeming too great for the opportunity to go home. But how selfish will their sacrifices be...?
"They've Got a Secret": Trying to clear the ship of all Peacekeeper devices, D'Argo inadvertently causes an extremely strange reaction within Moya, at the same time driving himself into an inexplicable delirium. As D'Argo relives the painful events that led to him becoming a prisoner of the Peacekeepers, Moya's life support systems begin to shut down. Pilot falls unconscious, cutting off all hope of communication with Moya. The DRDs transform from mechanical servants to deadly protectors, attacking the crew with chilling resolve. As they race against time to correct the problem, the crew is in for a shocking surprise....
"Til the Blood Runs Clear ": While out studying solar flares in his module, Crichton unexpectedly creates a wormhole. Aeryn manages to pull the module away before they're sucked in. They are forced to land at the Dambada Depot where they discover a Wanted Beacon offering a reward for the return of Zhaan, D'Argo, and Rygel. When confronted by two vicious Bloodtrackers determined to get the reward, Crichton and Aeryn must also impersonate bounty hunters. The situation gets even more complicated when D'Argo comes down to the planet and is captured by the Bloodtrackers...
"Rhapsody in Blue": The crew wakes to find Moya has StarBurst on her own accord to answer the distress call of another Leviathan. But the call was merely a psychic ruse by a stranded Delvian sect who needs Zhaan's powers to heal their leader, Tahleen, from madness. Crichton and the rest of the crew are helpless as they become victims of the sect's mystical powers, as Tahleen attempts to steal Zhaan's soul!
A Great Video Collection ; Quality so so I got hooked on farscape the second season, so I am eagerly buying up the videos. HOWEVER, the video quality is so-so. A lot of scribbles and skips.
The Best If you like Farscape and just started watching recently -- I recommend this HIGHLY. Six episodes all great. Less costly than six movies AND you can keep it to rewatch. I think each episode is a work of art. Great GIFT!
Farscape-Instantly Addictive Box Set I stumbled across Farscape one Friday night this summer when there was nothing good on TV. Without knowing much about it and even being very confused, I was instantly addicted. I bought this box set to catch up on some of the show's history. What I found is that this show is probably the best sci-fi on TV these days. It has compelling (and likeable) characters, equal parts humor and drama, and stunning make-up and sets.
This box set has some very good episodes that give interesting entertainment while establishing necessary background info about the main characters. Tape one contains PK Tech Girl. Good episode where Rygel must confront his inner demons and Aeryn starts to show a bit of the green-eyed monster when John finds himself attracted to a peacekeeper tech. That old Black Magic is also a great episode with Zhaan having to unlock her dark side to save John from his confrontation with Crais. Great to be able to see a little of what makes Crais tick.
Tape Two contains: DNA mad scientist. Good, unconventional episode with a rare look at the vulnerabilities of the main characters. It also contains They've got a secret. This is a great episode with D'Argo's pain-filled past coming to light and Moya(the living ship) has a secret of her own.
Tape Three contains: Till the Blood runs clear, a good episode that shows John's desperation to try to get home, but a bounty on his shipmates' heads changes plans. Cute scenes with Zhaan's reaction to solar flares. The last episode in this set is Rhapsody in Blue. This episode contains interesting information on what makes Zhaan so unique from others of her kind and why Zhaan was originally imprisoned by Peacekeepers.
All in all a very good video set. Very worth buying. Even if you are not a sci-fi fan per se, get this set. It is one of the most impressive forays into sci-fi with heart you are likely to see.
The Voyage Continues As I write this, Farscape is well into its 3rd season. I have known about the existance of Farscape from its beginnings. However I never bothered to watch the show because it looked so weird. Knowing that "muppets" (I tease as the show is produced by Jim Henson Entertainment) played two of the characters didn't help. But with everything else in reruns and SciFi showing new episodes, I thought, "What the heck." So I watched an episode and was surprised at how quickly I was absorbed into the show despite knowing almost nothing about it. Five episodes later I can say I am hooked and have purchased "Farscape - Collection 2".
As with Collection 1, there are 3 tapes containing 6 episodes.
Tape 1: "PK Tech Girl" & "That Old Black Magic" Tape 2: "DNA Mad Scientist" & "They've Got A Secret" Tape 3: "Till The Blood Runs Clear" & "Rhapsody in Blue"
"DNA Mad Scientist" contains some very surprising things that would NEVER get told in a Star Trek episode! But surprise is one of the key elements of Farscape and this puts it above all current-running sci-fi programming (IMO).
Volumes 4-6 For those who might actually want to know what episodes you are buying, here's the list: Volume 4- "PK Tech Girl" & "That Old Black Magic" Volume 5- "DNA Mad Scientist" & "They've Got a Secret" Volume 6- "Till the Blood Runs Clear" & "Rhapsody in Blue"
With the Star Trek series now doing prequels, you best get up to speed on the best Sci-Fi series that ever existed.
