Really great film!! I ran across this movie on the Independent Film Channel one night when surfing through channels, and loved it. Very fresh and funny! The characters are believable and real, the plot feasible, & it was fun to watch. I think I'm going to buy this one!
About Relationships I caught this movie on the IFC tv station. It's about people who are experimenting with various relationships. Mainly the female character is doing a lot of experimenting.
The situations shown in the movie are sort of cameos in a way that only represent the underlying issues that can really happen. Many complications that can arise are not addressed such as for example someone quitting their job because they don't believe in what they're doing, etc..
Also a beautiful woman is probably not going to be randomly running around having sex for free in the real world.
After 13 relationships I'm not sure where 'experimentation' becomes something else. But as I said it's more of the underlying issues that are being represented as the story shows what can often go wrong (i.e. the guy is really married, etc..). Maybe the number '13' is like a symbol for bad luck in the movie.
The main question I think is what is it that causes a relationship to be successful over the long term.
The answer to that is I suppose related to what the individuals want. If they don't want the same things problems can arise. There's a miscarriage in the story which perhaps indicates that she didn't want to start a family at that particular time.
Another point is that a purely physical relationship may not last. Rather there must be an intellectual and / or spiritual connection.
It also gets into the idea of 'love at first sight'. Sometimes when we meet another person we may get the feeling that we have 'known them forever'. That's because we really have.
The ending sort of leaves you hanging and I wasn't convinced that more changes weren't still in this girl's future.

A Funny Film about Love & Sex. French film directors such as Catherine Breillat have long known that Sex Is Comedy. Love & Sex (2000) is an unrated, sophisticated comedy-drama written and directed by Valerie Breiman. (It is currently in rotation on the IFC channel.) It stars Famke Janssen as a beautiful Los Angeles magazine writer, Kate Welles, and Jon Favreau (Swingers) as her boyfriend, Adam Levy. When Kate is asked to write a single woman's guide to love and sex (she initially assumes this means oral sex), she is forced to confront her own history of disappointing relationships with the opposite sex, from her first kiss in sixth-grade to her enigmatic relationship with Adam. Breiman has a knack for intelligent Sex and the City-level dialogue and funny one-liners, making her film equally funny and insightful. In a world of dumbed-down Hollywood relationship movies like Knocked Up, this film sparkles with brilliant insights.

This is the best movie ever! Most people have never heard of this movie... I had never heard of the movie until a co-worker told me just to buy it- don't even bother renting it first. You won't find the movie at Blockbuster, but its worth every penny. Its a story about relationships and all the trials and tribulations that go along with them. Anyone who has ever been in or out of love will see themselves in the characters in this movie - And I promise you'll find yourself smiling in the end.
GRRRREATTT MOVIE!!! Have you seen this movie? If not check it out. I was so surprised at how good this movie was. I love Jon Favreau he's an amazing actor. Definitely watch this movie!
