A small boy from another planet, Goku commands superhuman strength, but he was raised by an old man who taught him to use his powers only to fight evildoers. They enter into a quarrelsome alliance with Oolong, the shape-shifting pig; Yamcha, the dashing bandit (who wants the Dragon Balls to wish away his shyness around girls); and Yamcha's metamorphic familiar Pwar. The heroes don't realize they're competing for the Dragon Balls with the pint-sized Blue Meanie, Emperor Pilaf (who plans to use the Dragon Balls to rule the world), and his two ninja flunkies, Mia and Chao. The wild card in the conflict is Roshi, a lecherous old man who is a master of extraordinary martial arts techniques. This version of the comic action series has been heavily edited, which infuriates some fans, but it still offers plenty of elaborate fights and slapstick comedy. "Curse of the Blood Rubies" is a "feature" that consists of recut chunks of the first four episodes on the discs, combined with sections of the "Legend of Shenlon" adventure. The evil King Gurumes is oppressing his people and digging up his once-fertile realm to obtain the fabulous Rubies. He wants the Dragon Balls to wish himself free of the insatiable gluttony that has transformed him into a bloated monster, and will do anything to obtain them, which brings him into conflict with Goku, Bulma, and company. Although the film contains nothing but reused footage, the story doesn't fit into the overall Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z continuity. Dragon Ball Rulz I loved this saga I don't care if it was edited or not so I say if you are a real Dragon Ball fan this is a defanate buy. I would recomend this to eneyone I know.
Unrated Does Not Mean Uncut When I was searching for the Dragon Ball sagas on DVD, I was only trying to find the uncut editions of the episodes. When I saw that this said unrated i figured that meant uncut. Sorry to say that these were edited and it was like I was 13 all over again. After seeing the uncut episodes this DVD just did not compare. If you have kids it would be great for them due to the fact that some of the content was a little risque for children.

Come On People!!! A lot of these people writing these reviews must be sickos. This is the edited version but what is the big deal. The parts that are edited ain't even that serious. So they edited Bulma naked or whatever it may be what do you want to see it so bad. It's not like it's a real person it's a darn animation some people these days. The voices are changed and all that but I don't think it's that big of deal like some of these people make it.
People always looking for a reason to bash something. It is what it is. I enjoyed and thought it was good. I would recommend for any DBZ fans so they can see where it all started.
Not the best Thia saga contains the original 13 episodes of the great Dragon Ball Tv show. But sadly its only available in the edited and dubbed version because FUNimation (the company that released all the other un-cut sagas) still cannot get the rights to these episodes from the company that originally released them
