Compelling story that actually happened This is a very well done movie that stuck closely to the facts of this incident. Being from the Susquehanna Valley of Pennsylvania, I am familiar with this kidnapping. My brother was neighbors with Peggy's brother (as an adult) here in Lancaster County approx. 10 years ago. I highly recommend this DVD to others.
Misleading Title - Beware! This DVD is not the movie version of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It has nothing to do with Brian Robeson and his survival adventure in the Canadian wilderness. It appears that Amazon is intentionally misleading people looking for the motion picture adaption of Paulsen's incredibly popular novel. "A Cry in the Wild" is the title of the Hatchet movie. This one is entitled "Cry in the Wild."
Confusing Advertising I intended to order the movie based on the novel Hatchet. This was not it; however, it was on the same page, with the same title. I thought it was the movie I wanted available in DVD format instead of VHS, so I ordered it. I think that this movie SHOULD NOT be listed on the same page as the one based on the novel Hatchet. Thankfully, I was able to return it for a refund, but I still had to pay the shipping costs.
Cry in the Wild vs A Cry in the Wild This DVD was paired with the book Hatchet on the Amazon site so I bought both items. However, I found out that this is not the movie that goes with Hatchet. The DVD I bought is "Cry in the Wild" The one that SHOULD be paired with Hatchet is "A Cry in the Wild". Now because I already opened it, I am stuck with a DVD I can't use.
Amazon erred and blamed me As an educator i was attempting to purchase A cry in the Wild - a movie version of Gary Paulsen's Hatchet to show to my students. I clicked on an icon that showed the cover of this DVD( erroneously placed on the web) but due to an error by Amazon's subsidiary was sent a movie about a murder in the 60s instead. When I notified Amazon via phone about the problem the customer service reps repeatedly blamed me and stated there was nothing they could do. I spent 35 minutes on the phone and was finally offered a return sticker which 3 weeks hence has yet to arrive. I am quite dissatified with ths encounter and will be reluctant to purchase from AMazon in the future.
