Outstanding! I'm not one for punk/pop-punk, normally. As a Dreaded Prog Fan for the most part, the charms of this sort of music are generally lost upon me....unless the songwriting is so ON I can't get the hooks out of my head. Now take a look at my star-rating, and guess how the rest of this review goes.
China Drum are a helluva band, irrespective of category. Get GOOSEFAIR and everything else you can find by them.
The drum are here to stay This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. From the opener 'Can't stop these things' right to the end I was hooked. There are simply too many good songs on this album to say which are the best, I just love it. It's one of those albums i could play and play and never get bored of, and trust me I have and I have never become bored. If your into any type of melodic punk you have to own this album, it's a masterpiece. Recommended tracks Can't stop these things, Fall into place, Biscuit Barrel, Monday, Last chance, Cloud 9
great melodic punk Though this album, their first full-length, doesn't have the breadth and variety of its followup (the brilliant Self Made Maniac), it's still a great album of intelligent, passionate, melodic punk rock that sounds like the band members misspent their youth mainlining Clash and Husker Du records. If "Can't Stop These Things," "Simple" and "Meaning" don't set your rod a-twirl, you don't know the meaning of the words "rock 'n' roll."ΓΏ
