Editorial Comments

Description:
In order to prevent his present reality from existing, a soldier from the future travels back in time to protect the woman whose unborn child will be the savior of the future.

Amazon.com essential video:
This is the film that cemented Schwarzenegger's spot in the action-brawn firmament, and it was well deserved. He's chilling as the futuristic cyborg who kills without fear, without love, without mercy. James Cameron's story and direction are pared to the bone and all the more creepy. But don't overlook the contributions of Linda Hamilton, who more than holds her own as the Terminator's would-be victim, Sarah Connor--thus creating, along with Sigourney Weaver in Alien, a new generation of rugged, clear-thinking female action stars. It's surprising how well this film holds up, and how its minimalist, malevolent violence is actually way scarier than that of its far more expensive, more effects-laden sequel. --Anne Hurley

3 out of 5 starsBuyer beware they do not send out special editions.
The DVD is new but it's not special edition, therefore it's falls advertising. Hope this review helps everyone.

1 out of 5 starsTerminator
I agree with some other reviewers--for a blu-ray edition the picture is awful. I watched the upconverted standard DVD edition on the same blu-ray equipment and LCD TV and the picture is as good if not better. My question is, what is the reference point for the 300+ people who gave this DVD a 5-star rating?

1 out of 5 starsAwesome Blu Ray, Terrible movie! Arnold sucks! Stick with Part 4!
I was at the local Rent-a-Video last night looking for a cool movie to watch and was in the mood for an action packed adventure!!! The last few movies I have seen have been pretty good....movies like Battlefield Earth ,Showgirls, Howard The Duck .... Glitter... and Baby Geniuses just blew me away!

I went up to the cashier guy and asked him what he considered one of the 'best movies' of all time...he answered with 'Terminator". I'm like dude.. how is it out on DVD yet? It's still in theaters! He then tried to give me a history lesson on Terminator 1 2 and 3... I just laughed at him because the only Terminator movie that matters is part 4 (which I thought was the only one LOL!) So I took home this movie and watched it....I was not impressed at all! Arnold did not look like a tough guy at all! and it was so unrealistic how he got shot at and didn't die! Also, why didn't the movie include more romance and love sconces! Plus, this in no way compares to the new Terminator movie!

For good movies ditch these 80s cheesy sci-fi flicks and check out the New Terminator, Showgirls, or Battlefield Earth!

2 out of 5 starsNOT YOUR REGULAR BLU RAY
I don't know what happened here but my copy of the blu-ray version of The Terminator looks just like regular old dvd quality to me. It is not terrible but not nearly as sharp as every other blu-ray disc I've watched with my system, the picture is just soft, not quite as good as a good regular dvd transfer watched with a first rate standard dvd player. Somebody was either asleep at the switch or trying to pull a fast one to make a few bucks, although I fail to see how it makes any sense.

1 out of 5 starsBlu-rayp off!!!
One word - disappointment. FIRST, let me just say that this is not a review about the plot of the movie, like most reviews here appear to be. This is about video and audio quality the way a BLU RAY movie should be. The video quality is terrible; audio was nominal at best. In fact, the DVD version on a standard DVD player and tube TV looks better. It reminded me of how the VHS version looked after I bought my first DVD player. I got it for $13 at BestBuy but I don't even think it was worth even that. Do not buy this; keep or buy the DVD version.
