Amazon.com: For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, "some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen." --Jim Emerson
Totally different First off, I want to point out that this is another colossal failure of Amazon in matching review with product, since none of the previous reviews here actually seem to be about the Nightmare Revisited soundtrack, but just he movie.
Most of the songs (in this album) are just rock covers of the ones from the movie. While I applaud Disney for trying out an idea like this, few of the new recordings can match the witty voices and unique instrumentation from the original soundtrack. You may like this album, but I urge you before you buy it to listen to all the track previews (for instance, on the Walt Disney Records web site).
The Nightmare Before Christmas (Blu-Ray) My favorite Tim Burton movie, the second it The Corpse Bride. Exceptional quality on the Blu-Ray (far out shines the DVD version).
Oner of the best movies ever, a classic If you have not seen Nightmare Before Christmas (NBC) You are missing out on one of Tim Burton's finest. Danny Elfman is brilliant. The music is beautiful. This is a whimsical, contemporary opera that everyone can enjoy. On my families favorites list!
"Nightmare" a dream This is a fabulous movie, so it is gratifying to see an edition that provides a full menu of features to compliment the film. Filled with behind-the-scenes features and extras, plus a digital disc and a fabulous edition of the movie itself.
The Nightmare Before Christmas This movie is excellent, and love Tim Burton's film. Great movie for kids and adults, very educational. Animation is awesome and very realistic. Would recommend for the entire family.
