Feels like someone was listening. I had written a pretty negative review of the last book, Streams of Silver, so I felt obligated to come back with a review of this next book, the Halfling's Gem.
Halfing's Gem is a triumph, as far as I'm concerned. The art quality and writing are on par with the Dark Elf Trilogy, which I thought was paramount.
I am very very satisfied with this comic. It's almost like someone read the reviews that Streams of Silver and The Crystal Shard got - not only did the general decline in art quality take a complete 180, but we also got 'elf' Drizzt (from the first trilogy) back in the place of 'Old Woman with Huge Chin' Drizzt (who was introduced in Shard).
The storytelling remains decent - as with any enterprise such as this, if you've read the books than these comics will flow a little more smoothly. Overall, a great read with art and action worthy of the series. Anyone who hasn't read the books will find an enjoyable little story.
Five stars might be a *little* overzealous, but I am really happy to see the quality return to this series.
Now I'm really looking forward to the Legacy series, which I pretty much hated when I read them.
Art is good again- Best since Sojourn As we all know The Crystal Shard, and Streams of Silver were huge dissapointments artworkwise. The art was awful, but here the art is good, and they don't look like morons. Cattie-Brie even looks good.
