Buy it for the art. If you're like me you're buying this for the art by Risso, which is great. But the stories are pretty basic stuff and in no way deserve the attention he put into illustrating them. If a lesser artist drew them they would be right at home in any Charlton comic from 1972.
Risso and Trillo's homage to EC comics...I think Buy this book if you loved the art in Risso and Azarello's 100 Bullets, but don't expect the same level of storytelling. Writer Carlos Trillo crafts tales reminiscent of EC's horror line, but they sadly fail to attain the quality of the stories that so obviously inspired them. That being said, the art in black and white by Risso is amazing, and I am very glad that I bought this book. The writing is not bad enough to ruin the stories, and you can see that both creators were having fun crafting these tales involving Ghosts, Vampires, Frankenstein's monster and numerous other well-known staples of the horror genre. Particularly memorable are the stories not centering around supernatural happenings, but rather the blood-chilling irony or psychological twists found more often in 100 Bullets than in any horror comic. As I said before, I am quite happy with my purchase of this book because of the high quality of the art. I would heartily recommend it to any fan of Eduardo Risso's.
