HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY ^ If you consider a true fan of the TMNT this is for you, this great book contains original art, annotations, sketches and commentaries of the Mirage Comics, anothers, special etc.Kevin Eastman, Co-creator of the ORIGINAL Turtles, is telling all those interesting details to us,Everything fan needs to know, something like behind the scenes but of the comics, thebook for many could be something expensive, but it is a good piece to collect, its NOT a waste of money like the all the crap merchandise based on the 80s toon, for conclude the first years of the Turtles in the Mirage Universe... the golden year its in this book. PS If you are a fan boy hardcore whatever of the 80s toon and doesnt recognize the 2003 Animated series and the Mirage Comic this i DONT recommend you SAYONARA.
Interesting, but I wish it had more info ^ This is an interest book for TMNT fans, but I wish it had more information on the development of the turtles and their history. The book focuses mostly on the comics and Eastman's sketches. It has early drafts of the characters. In that sense, it isn't really an autobiography at all, but rather more like a scrapbook. Fans of the 1987 cartoons will be sorely disappointed. I hope someday Eastman and Laird come out with a definitive memoir. This book is great for fans of the comics, but isn't the memoir I hoped it would be.
Great Art Book ^ Great art book that chronicles the character design, thumbnail sketches, prelmins, pencils and inking for the TMNT issues that Eastman and Laird worked on together. You won't find any of this elsewhere short of owning all the original artwork, and even then you won't find the prelims and notes. A must have for fans of the comic and aspiring indie comic artists. I believe there is at least one treatment that documents the process of how some of the stories were generated, but the emphasis is really on the ART.
TMNT's Artobiography ^ I've been a rabid nut of the Turtles since I got my mitts on the Eastman & Laird comics in the 80's, so all this time later I couldn't believe my luck when I came across this book on Amazon. Bought it immediately and have been drooling over it ever since it arrived!
First off, there is not a square inch of page space wasted; it is packed to the brim with illustrations.
It starts with some really interesting background information on both Eastman and Laird, how they came together and formed their company "Mirage Studios" and some funky first character sketches of the turtles as well as news article clippings chronicling their growing success.
The majority of the book is TMNT comic layout roughs/ thumbnail sketches and cover art with brief descriptions, this book really is interesting if your a fan of the turtles but doubly so if you draw yourself, for it shows the whole process from start to end product.
I am very grateful that this book was created and gladly recommend it!
Kevin Eastman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Artobiography
TMNT ^ This book is a great book. Thanks to my wonderful girlfriend, and her choice of getting it for me. All in all, it's a very interesting book, the only complaint I have for it is that it should have a little more actual context. In other words, more words. I didn't like the fact that after a few chapters it gets kind of repetative because of the lack of reading, if your into just the comic book sketches then this is it for you. If you want some more depth to the actual writing, then you probably won't be fully satisfied. I would recomend a read of course, and a buy for the TMNT enthusiast but other than my gripes, GREAT book.
