5 out of 5 starsBeginning Animator's Dream
I just received this book in the mail and already I'm almost through it. This book has the basics for any beginning animator and is a dream come true for people searching for the fundamentals. It touches down a little bit on just about everything, even the old school ways. It comes with a disc full of the example in the book, which is pretty amazing. I have owned many animation books and this is definitely a must have for someone looking to get into animation.

5 out of 5 starsAmazing MUST HAVE for animators
I am going to start off by saying if you want to learn how to do animation, this book is not for you. If you already are an animator and have a basic knowledge of the art form, this is one of the best books you can ever read to sharpen your skills. Bravo Eric Goldberg

5 out of 5 starsDelivers everything it promises
Eric Goldberg is one of the animation greats, not only at Disney's but at many different studios. He has a natural born talent for creating animation with flair whether it be the genie from Aladdin or the flamingos in Fantasia 2000. This is someone I want to listen to.

With all of his experience, he has picked up a lot of great techniques, and they are in this book. He presents the material clearly and concisely, so that the reader can get right into implementing these techniques at the animation drawing board. I got it, I read it, I'm using the techniques, and I'm getting great results. I love this book!!!

5 out of 5 starsExcellent!
Eric Goldberg, master animator has written a book. Any one interested in the medium probably has this already, it is a must have. If you don't have it, then rectify this immediatelly, you wont regret it.
Yes it is a 'how to' book, but never dry or boring. Eric's love of animation shines through and the magic is there to inspire and guide the enthusiastic beginner and the jaded veteran alike.
I love this book and the added edition of a dvd showing some of the exercises described in the book make it entertaining and informative both.
Whether your thing is CGI or traditional 2D animation, this book is an essential guide to the craft, it is the one with the magic as well as the nuts and bolts. I am trying to find words to praise it more highly but you can see for yourself. I envy those who are encountering this for the first time, you will be inspired and your pursuit of the craft will be energised.

5 out of 5 starsFull of great pearls of animation wisdom
I'm shocked there are any bad reviews for this book: it makes me think those reviewers know little about animation. This book is a treasure. With a forward from Brad Bird and explanations of character animation explained in unique form, I would suggest any animator should add this book to their collection and APPLY the principles asap. After all, animation is an ongoing learning process, and Eric Goldberg has much to share: and he shares it in this book.
