Product Description: Perhaps the most imaginative of the 'Planet' series - the entire 'Moon' adventures For 60 years all the nations of the Earth have been at war. Now peace has come, but, more momentously, contact has been made with Mars. Into these times steps Julian-a man aware of lives past and present-with a strange story to tell. Mars has launched a ship to Earth, but it is lost in space-now it is Earth's turn to make an attempt to reach Mars, and Julian is commander of the mission. Sabotage plunges the Earth craft into the moon where, hidden from Earth's view, civilizations thrive. There Julian becomes involved in a fierce struggle with the Kalkans. In the second adventure, another Julian must deal with the Kalkan invasion and occupation of Earth, as mankind is forced into serfdom and its technology destroyed. The American people of the third adventure are a nomadic horse nation, painted and feathered. Their chieftain is Julian-the Red Hawk-and he is planning the final defeat of the hated Kalkans after centuries of enmity and oppression. This is Edgar Rice Burroughs at his best, with all the thrills, spills, action and hairsbreadth escapes his fans expect. Here, for your enjoyment, are all the 'Moon' novels in a single volume.
Good Book, Crappy Publishing I have a whole collection of ERB books, including the whole Barsoom and Venus series. I also have an older edition of the Moon Maid, republished here. The writing is great, but the editing in this edition is shameful. There are constant typoes, ranging from misplaced punctuation and capital letters to completely extraneous words. At one point, the Moon is mistakenly referred to as "Union". Where that might have come from, I can't imagine. What really puts the burr in my saddle is that I deliberately chose the hardcover, because I wanted to be able to keep the book for a long time. I don't recommend that choice. Get the paperback for the story, without considering any keepsake value.
Enjoy them all over again! When I saw these new editions and the beautiful lettering and cover designs, I knew I had to buy these great Burroughs classics all over again. How nice to get the Moon series all collected into one Trilogy addition. I have my old Frazetta cover paperbacks, but sometimes the type size they used for those old editions was uncomfortably small to fit the desire for a small page count I guess. Now we have the Moon Trilogy handsomely collected in one large size volume, which is I believe, a first. Thanks for these books! I'm looking forward to visiting Pellucidar, Venus, and Mars again, too!
Leonaur Ltd. is publishing the definitive Edgar Rice Burroughs 21st century editions. Leonaur Ltd. is publishing the definitive Edgar Rice Burroughs 21st century editions. These usually contain 2 books of the different ERB major series in order - thus far John Carter, Pellucidar, and Carson of Venus. In the future, possibly Tarzan! These books are handsome and my rating is mainly based on this - the ERB fan knows best about the rest of it. The Complete Mooon Trilogy is one of ERB's successes. It is science fiction adventure but more than that. It contains a bit of anti-totaliarism, sociology, speculative fictiom, and look into the future. Definitely near the top of the Burroughs opus.
