The Celts were a creative, mystical people, still revered today for their imaginative myth-making, brilliant designs, and profound sense of wonder and magic. This entry in the popular Inspirations series offers enticing summaries of key Celtic symbols, an introduction to the Celtic worldview, and enlightening short extracts from the great Celtic texts. Featuring 75 color photos and practical exercises that show readers how to apply ancient insights to their own lives, this elegant volume captures the spirit of the druids and storytellers in a series of poetic texts. The spiritual lessons cover such subjects as plant healing, spell casting, and traveling safely in the Otherworld, while a special section reveals the secrets of King Arthur's knights and the Holy Grail.
Relaxing to read I agree this is a nice little gem to read when I like to relax and curl up with a book that gives me that "take me away to the Otherworld" feeling. Very meditative to read, allows your imagination to run free when we need to. It is put together well and the pictures and photos are equally enchanting. Thanks for a wonderful mental get away and some great meditation material.
Lovely Little Book A light yet solid romp into the Celtic world. Artwork and photographs are both lovely. Not an in-depth study of the Celts, but efficient at touching on & explaining many major themes. Quality information provided in few words. Exercises included are relevant & not too "heavy." I didn't feel like the author was shoving "their" brand of Celticism down my throat.
Celtic Inspirations This work would be appealing to readers interested in Celtic stories and literature. Celtics can see into the future and interpret dreams. The work describes "incanting" protection by practitioners. The theory of two sides describes two sides of each sword as representing dual sides of decision-making. Celtic meditation is done through Mandalas in symmetry. Dreams are set forth as connections to the other side/world.
The work would be of interest to readers of Celtic literature. It provides interesting reading for background purposes.
Beautiful book to meditate on and read This little book is a little gem of knowledge and insight, and is a wonderful addition to the Celtic-lover's library. Although the book isn't a deep read or contain tons of information, what is does have is essential bits to contemplate and beautiful photographs to inspire. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
A Hidden Treasure This book, the Celtic Inspirations by Lyn Webster Wilde, is a hidden treasure I found in the bookstore the other day. The pictures and art work displayed are so beautiful, unique and artistic. They are reflections of simple inspirations/teachings of the Celtic traditions.
It is a book to ponder, a book to sit in and experience. Starring at just the pictures, drawings on its own while you are taking a bath can be soothing and relaxing.
But if you are looking for a guide/book to explain things all, giving you a formula of fixing your life problems, this book isn't for you. This book is more for a viewing pleasure and introduce calmness in life. Re-reading, re-starring the pictures can be a different way to meditate/calming the mind down from a hectic day.
