Best zombie series ever Whats there to say about it. The walking dead series is just amazing. This new book just keeps it going. The art is sill fantastic and i love following Rick and his son along.
It does feel a bit like a filler episode, but its necessary to take one or two books to establish a buildup to an action packed climax at which time i will blow my mental load all over the pages.
My only complaint is that i have to wait so long between episodes, but its the price you pay for quality. I cant wait for the next one!
Holy @%#$ing @#$%! ...seriously ((((((DO NOT READ THE OTHER REVIEWS UNLESS YOU WANT THE PLOT SPOILED))))) I really don't think there is a way to describe the amount of talent that goes into this book without dropping some F-bombs. but I'll try... Speaking generally about the entire series so I don't give anything away... Lets just say that I honestly can't remember the last time words and images had this big of an impact on me. I work at a comic book store and I read everything. Honestly. My @$$ is kicked. This book has made the biggest impact on me than ANY other series I have read. YOU HAVE TO READ THE WHOLE THING. Kirman slows down the story from time to time but only if its necessary, and then pulls you right back in. You are in good hands. This book has EVERYTHING! If this review is the one that talks you into reading the series... your welcome =o) trust me.. you will want to thank me later.
Great zombie comic The story is great been following it for 5 years now.. I hope they make a tv series or a movie on this
Major Let Down (Kind of) The 9th installment was alright. Nothing compared in my mind to the previous ones. Event though it was around the same length as the other previous installments, it felt alot shorter. I breezed through it in record time compared to the other ones. I love how all the covers connect into one long picture of zombies, very cool. Dont get me wrong, this is one of my favorite graphic novels, but I felt the 9th edition was just lacking in both strong story as well as literal length. I also just looked at the pre-order page for edition 10, and it said it was going to be like 430 pages. I am quite amazed and am thinking it will probably be the last one in the series. Good number to end the story on so I shouldn't complain much about the 9th edition being so short. Most of the other editions average about 130 pages, so to have 430 will be an amazing finish.
A Necessary Pause while it's true that this volume is slower than the last three, it is necessarily so. the intimacy present in volume 9 serves as the after-dinner cigarette to help stimulate digestion of the roller coaster ride of recent events. Kirkman is not slipping, and the series isn't going to stagnate; the focus of this story is changing into something more personal and real, if that was possible.
however, this volume is not without its shockers, surprises and scares (though they are scares of a different nature). it is one part epilogue, one part prologue (and two parts awesome).
