Comprehensive overview of the makings of the first volume ^ "Blacksad: The Sketch Files" is a look at the first Blacksad comic and how it was put together. It's remarkably comprehensive - there's a long interview (interspersed with studies and sketches); pencilwork, commentary, and various sketches, color studies, and storyboards for every page of the comic; some early work on Arctic Nation; and some minor other extra material.
The material is more than sufficient for the purpose; the interview is wide-ranging and both it and the page-by-page commentary give a sense of how the novel was built and the motivations behind a lot of the choices. The comments on the cinematic sources of a lot of the panel setup and artwork were particularly informative. There's little finished work, as it's more focused on a behind-the-scenes look. For that, it's a worthy choice.
