Product Description: From the hilariously mad-as-hell Daily Show regular and New York Times–bestselling author comes a ferociously funny exploration of religion and faith.
What do we believe? And in God’s name why?
Lewis Black has the answers. Or at least his answers. He survived Hebrew school and a bar mitzvah (barely), was a sixties college student who saw the parallels between religious rapture and drug-induced visions (even if none of his friends did), explored the self-actualization movement of the seventies (and the self-indulgence it engendered), and turned a cynical eye toward politicians who don the cloak of religious rectitude to cover up their own hypocrisy.
What he learned about the inconsistencies and peculiarities of religion infuriated Black, and in Me of Little Faith they get his full comic attention. In a series of comedic inquiries, Black explores how the rules and constraints of religion have affected his life and the lives of us all. Hilarious experiences with rabbis, Mormons, gurus, psychics, and even the joy of a perfect round of golf give Black the chance to expound upon what we believe and why—in the language of a shock jock and with the heart of an iconoclast.
Hilarious In my opinion, Lewis Black is the funniest comedian on the planet, and this book confirms it. The real world situations that he describes hit home numerous times. It is a no-holds-barred review of religion in today's world. Buy it!!
Not Quite Irreverent This book was wonderful. I laughed out loud a number of times. I expected it to be more irreverent, but was surprised to find it an idealogical exploration of a number of religions and philosophies while being extremely funny at the same time. I've sent it to a number of people, particularly my friends in the clergy who have good senses of humor.
The whole family enjoyed this book on CD Can't beat Lewis Black for great humor - We own all his comedy CD's and this book was a great addition.
Lewis Black Keeps the Faith Lewis Black uses his unique brand of humor to expose the inconsistencies found in organized religion. Very funny in places. Overall, an excellent read.
Not a convert, but I loved the book! I loved this book. Not because I'm a Lewis Black fan, but I like his material. In this book, it did not offend me when he started talking about religion. Like he said in interviews and in this book, there's other books on that. True, some of his material I've heard before is in a few pages on the book, but who cares, it's Lewis Black. His bits on airports never gets old, either. It just gets funnier. The worst thing I got when I got this book is that I'll be a little bit offended by what he talks about religion, but I didn't get that at all. A good fast read!
