This time, the volumes formerly known as "Bean Bandit" and "Kidnapped" comprise this 450+ page book.
Another hit in the form of a brick. Odds are that if you're looking at Gunsmith Cats Revised Omnibus Edition Vol. 3, you buy now know the game plan of girls, guns, cars, and well developed stories to carry the book.
This volume contains two complete story arcs, and features all your favorite characters. The first, Rally must stop Bean Bandit from completing a job running the new drug Kerosene between New York and Chicago. The seemingly cut and dry deal lead Rally and Bean to make a wager; if Rally can prevent Bean from completing his job, Bean must agree to never run drugs again. When a rival syndicate attempts to swipe the drug score, thing turn nasty. In the second arc, a routine job escalates when a local celebrity is accused of kidnapping his daughter when he jumps bail.
This volume really ups the ante in the car department, with both stories featuring great car chases in meticulous detail. Sonoda's attention to the subtle nuances of each car and firearm are the work of a true nut. And while not a hypersexed as vol two, there are plenty of lovely ladies and gorgeous pin ups in this one. Absent are the fun extras with gun trivia and anecdotes from Sonoda's personal life. If you enjoyed the first two, then Vol 3 will not disappoint. Action packed from start to finish, Gunsmith Cats Vol 3 is money well spent, giving you 3 times as much book for a few dollars more than your standard manga.
GREAT READ!! the artwork is great and the story is even better. One of the best animes ever!
Good fun, but with some needlessly disturbing scenes Gunsmith Cats is about guns, fast cars and beautiful women. Each fight, each chase is carefully coreographed and filled with technical detail about the merits of each car and gun used.
That being said there's some needlessly disturbing parts. The fights are surprisingly clean, less gorey than most R rated movies. But one character was a 14 year old prostitute and while 18 now can still pass for a grade schooler. So be ready for some really odd attitudes about age and sex in this book.
Other than that though, it's a lot of fun and you get a ton of story for your money.
