I purchased Spawn Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, and Book 4 (and I will purchase Book 5). I love the Spawn collection because I love the artwork. The artwork is "off the hook." The characters and the colors are beautifully exaggerated. Todd McFarlane and Greg Capullo are artistic masters.
Because I do not read many comic books, I think the story is ludicrous and the writing is silly. I prefer the dialog found in novels rather than comic books (alas, novels do not feature illustrations). I read Spawn in order to enjoy the pictures (not read the story).
