Design is at a turning point. Our infatuation with--and the backlash against--technology is over. Today's best designers have learned to embrace its advantages and think beyond its limitations by combining the power of the computer with the tactile qualities of handmade elements.
Inside you'll find examples of work that showcase a variety of design methods, including mixed media, illustration, letterpress, screenprinting and collage. You'll find inspiration in examples from outstanding designers and see how traditional elements can make a more powerful statement than anesthesized computer-only work. Fingerprint also includes insightful essays on the power of the handmade by Debbie Millman, Jean Orlebeke, Jim Sherraden, Martin Venezky and Ross Macdonald.
The projects in this book are beautiful, technical, simple, layered and powerful. Each project communicates its intended message with eloquence.
You can be part of this exciting design revolution. Leave your own fingerprint on the world by exploring the fusion of the digital with the hand-wrought.

A Fave! This is officially one of my favorite books because not only do I refer back to it constantly while working on different projects but because it is layed out so balanced and professionally for a book that is about handmade elements. It's a beautiful book with pages and pages of inspiration! Thank goodness someone remembers crafting is important in design :-)
Great Book for a Little Tactile Inspiration The book has many many thoughtfully and painstakingly crafted goodies to kickstart your imagination. However the descriptions of the pieces were extremely short and I would have liked to read a little bit more about each piece.
Wonderful resource and visual treat I recently acquired this book to encourage my students to get back in touch with design practices that involve hand-made processes on one level or another. The book is filled with inspirational examples of whimsical, intelligent designs in a wide range of contexts. It is beautifully printed and well worth the cost.
Quite Excellent Love this book! It's very inspiring to see the passions of other designers who enjoy the human elements of design as I do. My only note is towards the seller. I found a small rip in the spine when it was listed as new but this does not affect other buyers. As a designer in a more and more mechanized and impersonal world, YOU NEED THIS.
Excellent To tell you the truth, I bought this item on a whim. I was much more satisfied with this graphic design book than others I have purchased recently. It is excellent if you are a visual consumer like I am. I would highly recommend the seller. It was promptly sent and received. Thanks a million for this jewel!
