fan1 this was the last of the best era of the new teen titans. after the runaways storyline the plots just took to long to enjoy. the art was great and the stories would have been better if they were told in 2-3 issues instead of the 4-5 the titans are however my favorite book except the bronze age justice league.
DC at its best! Looking for the best 1980s works DC has to offer of? This is it. The fame and praise of the New Teen Titans series is well-documented already, but I can say that this volumne gets into some of the best parts of the series. It introduced some great space adventures into what was finally becoming a more consistent and integrated universe of aliens and storylines in the DC universe. Although considered a bit campy or outdated now, many of the storis about cults and runaways were very topical and demonstrated a level of depth in writing rarely seen at that point in DC (save for the fabled Green Lantern/Green Arrow run writen a decade earlier). And best of all - the art is just breathtaking. The battle scenes show George Perez really coming into his own in terms of the details and multi-layered dynamics of style.
Although the books covered in this volumne are not as old or rare compared to most other DC Archives, the quality of the work just sweeps you away.
