Product Description: Test pilot Hal Jordan was chosen to represent an intergalactic police force created by the oldest beings in existence, the Guardians of the Universe. He now protects Earth and all of space sector 2814 from every extraterrestrial threat imaginable, armed with a specially crafted power ring that turns his will into reality.
In this volume, Hal has been framed for murder and is a fugitive on the run from a legion of intergalactic bounty hunters and the new Global Guardians. He must clear his name and discover who put a price on his head as well as the shocking reason why.
Some goofy characters and misplaced art hold this back I love this series and Geoff Johns but this trade left me wanting more than what I got. The Global Guardians from the first part of this trade are hard to take serious and the art in the second half doesn't fit within the series. I did like the explanation of the Star Sapphires and really enjoyed Abin Sur's son. Overall, a nice setup for later greatness but average on its own.
More action, more adventure Great stuff from Geoff Johns once again. Shame about his Superman work, but this is great.
More Green Lantern adventures Green Lantern: Wanted Hal Jordan collects issues 14-20 of the current Geoff Johns' run and is the next collected edition after Green Lantern Vol. 2: Revenge of the Green Lanterns.
I'm not a fan of Hal Jordan's P.O.W. status during the missing year, mostly as it seems to reference a life-changing event that will ultimately be overshadowed by the epic, space opera tales of Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Vol. 1 and the forthcoming Blackest Night. Hal must rescue his fellow-pilot and romantic interest Cowgirl from a mission gone awry, and gets entangled in superhero politics and alien bounty hunters. The politics are a little dry if you aren't up to speed on the DC Universe, and as a result this volume feels a little less self-contained than the two that came before it.
The other stories are excellent however, including Abin Sur's son come to seek revenge and the rebirth of the Star Sapphires. These add a bit more of that cosmic influence readers expect from a Green Lantern story. Daniel Acuna's art for the Star Sapphire story seems to get mixed reviews, but I love it. It's jarring from the clean pencils of Ivan Reis (responsible for the bulk of Green Lantern) but seems to fit the romantic elements of the tale and the fact that the story is told from Carol Ferris' perspective. Also sprinkled along the way are teases for the Sinestro Corps War, which starts in the next volume.
In all a great buy for Green Lantern fans, but probably the weakest of the collected Geoff Johns stories at the same time.
Continued Solid Writing Johns continues to reestablish the Lantern canon with the reentry of Star Sapphire, not so subtly seeting us up for the upcoming battle of multi-colored rings. I'm skeptical about all the different color powers, but the stories here were solid enough to warrant further perusal.
Green Lantern Vol. 3: Wanted - Hal Jordan A good read, not what I expected as far as the actual plot went. I was looking for something closer to the Inifinate crisis time line. This was not it. I only gave it 3 stars for my personal disappointment. The story is well written. If you are a Hal Jordan Green Lantern fan, you will not be disapointed with the read.
