This latest volume in the series reprints the Spirit comics from July 3 to December 25, 1949, one of the seriesÂ’ greatest periods.
A "must read" for every comic book fan!! ^ For me, Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT represents the EVOLUTION of the comic book language over the 20Th century! Eisner took all that's being done in comics before him - in the late thirties - and started to MIX the cinematic language - specially the NOIR's - with comics and , eventually, THE SPIRIT was WAY BEYOND that. If you read this volume, you will know why they call this tittle THE CITZEN KANE of comics! Hal Foster's Prince Valiant's art is beautifull and Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon is a visionary series in MANY ways, but, to me , Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT represents ALL THAT COMICS MEDIUM should be:inteligent, fun and, most of all, REVOLUTIONARY!! And all that stuff in a DELUXE package! Thank you,DC!!
