5 out of 5 starsStart at the Begining
I'm new into the comic books scene. If you're going to start somewhere, the Absolute Crisis is a great place. This book is a magnum opus of DC. Although face time with character is limited due to the vast nature of the crisis, what you get is a very quick but essential overview of the entire cast.

This book is the complete re-vamp of the DC universe, so its a perfect place to start reading from. The books before the crisis are great, too, but there's only so much time in the day.

5 out of 5 starsDC Takes A Trip To The Dark Side!
What can I say about the almighty Crisis? It is the daddy of comics catastrophe. This is where all the ages of DC Comics clash.Timelines in the DC Universe have been scrambled up by an entity called "The Monitor".
We see past heroes and villains that should not exist in 1986.For example Alan Scott was the orignal Green Lantern in the 1940's but he shows up to meet Hal Jordan.Wally West was the Flash in 1960 and he runs into Bart Allen, the 1980's version of The Flash. The Monitor duplicates Earth a hundred times over and on each "Earth" the DC characters have different origins and timelines. Probably the biggest shock about Crisis was the multiple deaths of DC's most beloved heroes. The original Flash dies and our current Supergirl apparently dies. And Lex Luthor has a younger, sharper double from Earth-2 named Alexander Luthor. The story is very complicated in the beginning but near the end the details are all tied together. All the other Earths are destroyed and the DC Universe gets a new start. But later on in 1996 and 2006 Zero Hour and Infinite Crisis would shake everything up and start thing anew for new readers. This is DC's greatest feat,to just lay a path of destruction and somehow make the DC Universe shiny and new.Marvel has the worst continuity problems and it's the main reason why I stopped reading Marvel Comics a long time ago.DC knows how to aake the formula work and Crisis On Infinite Earths is solid and early proof of how strong DC is.If you are a true DC fan,you must have this in your collection.Plus the "Absolute" format is a plus. Here you get the year-long event from 1986,bound and put together with the highest of quality to make it last a long time.Very savvy and smart!

5 out of 5 starsVery first Absolute I ever bought !!!
This was the very first absolute edition, I ever bought. I have to say for anyone who likes DC comics, this is a must buy! All the twist and turns and confusing crap you could want, that may not make sense but still is so freaking cool.

Most of all the lists I seen of, "must have comic books", this is one of them! Now i know why it is too, it was a great read, and a great start to getting started with my collection of comic books.

There's a reason why DC/Marvel are releasing these Absolute and Omnibus editions (other than making more money), because they are great stories that deserve to be made in these formats. Also its great not to have to search for individual issues and what not. I've only gotten a few absolutes/omnibus, and not one yet has been a disappointment.

So if your just starting with comic books, i'd say this is one you best put on your list, as well as any omnibus/absolute you can.

4 out of 5 starsA classical
What can be considered as th "Star Wars" of the DCU!!!
"King sized",with extras such as the compendium to help you understand the scope of the story in the DCU and the historical context of it.
I'm happy with it,it was worth!!

5 out of 5 starsFantastic!
Amazing, the hugeness of this is the way it should have been all along
