Futuristic Classic ^ There aren't many products that legitimately rate 5 stars, but this one does. I remember being blown away by this series when it came out over 20 years ago. An amazing, visceral mix of science fiction, sex, violence, reality TV, and intrigue - this really was a series way ahead of its time. New readers will be shocked to realize this wasn't made in the internet and reality TV saturated age of today. Howard Chaykin is a great storyteller and pushed the boundaries of graphic design, color, sound effects, lettering, page structure, story arcs, humor and (notably) his portrayal of fetching women. This really set the bar and paved the way for subsequent material like Frank Miller's Dark Knight or Alan Moore's Watchmen.
My only gripe is with the Amazon listing and delivery. I'm looking forward to reading the collected, remastered edition. The only issues is, I ordered it 3 months ago and am still waiting with no sign of it in sight.
Well worth the price and absolutely indispensable for any lover of comics, Manga or good storytelling and graphic art in general. Don't pass this up.
Updated April 12,2005: Well, I ordered this in November 2004 (when the Amazon listing had it as being available) and just got an email today that this is not released yet?! Not sure if this is a supply issue from Amazon or not, but 7 months of waiting is ridiculous. You may want to check Dynamic Forces or other outlets.
