Product Description: A young girl's tribulations at home and school are at the center of this fantastical tale. At first glance, Jen's troubles are typical of any eighth grader: teacher trouble, a know-it-all younger brother, and a gloomy conviction that her family is nothing like those of her friends. But her secret is deeper than anyone can imagine. Jen and her brother Cody are being raised by a group of super-intelligent animals who watch over them and teach them things no other humans know. When Jen's English teacher refuses to accept her unusual family story as the truth, Jen confides in her best friend Sara about the crisis brewing at Animalville. The inhabitants of earth are threatened by an alien invasion, and only cooperation among all the sentient creatures on the planet can prevent it. Themes of animal rights, ecology, and space exploration are woven into this suspenseful story of Jen's race against time to save the world from disaster.
What present could be greater than this adventure book! Within the shortest time, I ventured through this fascinating story. Even though Zoonauts: The Secret Of Animalville by Richard Muller is written for children, the humorous language, vivid characters, and catchy plot make it great reading for adults too! I don't want to give away the plot, but have to say that the dragons are artfully interpreted to combine both Chinese and Western culture.
A positive message of what it means to respect life Zoonauts: The Secret Of Animalville by Richard Muller is an exciting children's science fiction story about young people who must ally with super-intelligent animals to protect the Earth from a menacing alien invasion. An adventurous and hearty tale, Zoonauts: The Secret Of Animalville also provides young readers with a positive message of what it means to protect and respect life in all shapes and sizes.
The Space Race, Environmentalism, and Talking Animals! Zoonauts: The Secret of Animalville is the freshest children's novel I've read in decades! It begins with a gangbuster science fiction "school report" by Jen, the teen youth of the Stroud Family - the "keepers" of Animalville. Through an incredible story by a talking parrot we learn the secret of this top-secret research facility for very smart animals. It was only September, but Jen could see it was already turning into a bad school year. Perhaps it was fun for her younger brother, Cody, but having animals cooking, cleaning and doing taxes made it so hard to have any friends. Plus the whole place was top secret! How could she NOT tell even her best friend Sara anything about her family? Truth is, no children had ever grown up in the kind of family as the Strouds. While their non-human nursemaids took care of them and taught them things no human children had learned, Jen was getting tired of telling other girls that they couldn't visit her at home. Oh, sure, she went to their places, but usually with some animal, watching everything she did. She felt like she was being spied on. It was too much to bear. Jen was deep in gloom as she left school that day. But you are certain to have a smile on your face as you read this amazing tale. The text, by renowned Hollywood scriptwriter Richard Mueller, is illustrated by Dal Chele - known for Scooby Doo, Spiderman, Robocop, The Real Ghostbusters, Fat Albert and The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, to name just a few!
