Product Description: Embellished Bras: Basic Techniques provides in-depth instruction and useful advice that guides readers through the process of turning a store-bought lingerie bra into a fabulous costume piece. This easy-to-follow four-phase process is presented through graphic step-by-step photographs and illustrations. You'll learn how to make a bra cup pattern, cover the bra and straps, and embellish with fringe, beadwork, appliques, and jewelry.
From ballroom to belly dance, Embellished Bras addresses the special needs of dancers no matter what performance style. This "workshop in a book" is an excellent resource for both novice sewers and professional designers.
Decent book for beginner-costumers I might recommend this book for a beginner dancer who wants to make her own costumes and hasn't the slightest idea where to begin.
The book goes into great detail on how to create patterns for covering a purchased bra with fabric, and it gives some good tips on strengthening and lining a purchased bra.
However, it says little about actually embellishing the bra. It offers suggestions (and resources) for WHAT you could use to decorate a bra, but it does very little to instruct the reader on HOW to apply the embellishments. For this reason, I find the title of the book to be a little misleading.
Additionally, despite the lovely full-color cover, all of the step by step instructional photos inside the book are in black and white.
Embellished Bras Not quite as good as Bedlah, Baubles and beads by the same author. Unnecessary purchase if you get the other book, but does have a lot of photos showing the various steps involved in embellishing a bra.
Embellished Bras Again, a fantastic bellydance resource to use. This book contains simple, clear and practical information on how to decorate a purchased bra and turn it into a bellydance bra. Discusses many techniques and contains lots of creative ideas. Must buy!
